:wizard: Hi everyone :wave2:

This is my first post. Im from the UK and travelling to Florida this September :thumbsup2 very excited already!! I have been before but that was with parents as a child so that doesn't count!! :lmao: I use an electric wheelchair and I'm travelling with a friend.

Just wondering if anyone had any tips about using an electric wheelchair/powerchair in WDW. I use it at home so don't need driving tips :rotfl: but wondering about what rides/shows etc I can do without transfering. I can transfer but prefer not to as its very difficult for me, I do however have my friend to help me out if i need

We have been to disneyland paris together but believe the wheelchair policies are a bit different in WDW with mainstreamed lines etc

I cant wait to learn more on here and plan our trip :woohoo:

Thanks

Hi and :welcome: to both DisBoards and disABILITIES!

Off the top of my head, with a powerchair you can get into ride vehicles at Toy Story Mania, Journey into Imagination, it's a small world, Finding Nemo, the Great Movie Ride.

If the attraction has a minimum height restriction it will tend to require restraints such as lap bars or seat belts so you cannot take any wheelchair onto the attraction.

If you can transfer kmany of the more intense attractions will have slide access. Be aware that someone with you can assist with a transfer, but Cast Members are not allowed to touch a Guest, even if requested. A CM can hold a wheelchair to stabilize it and also move it away from the load zone after you have gotten into the ride vehicle.

If you are able to get a book called The Open Mouse (check www.passporter.com or any major bookseller) it gives detailed information about every attraction.

thanks for your reply :thumbsup2

its great that there are a few rides to ride without transfering. I guessed CM's couldn't assist, as it is the same in DLP. However I could manage with help from my friend :littleangel:

In DLP we would use the exit for the rides so that the wheelchair is the right side of the track when we get back off. So if we use normal queues in WDW does that mean the CM's would move the wheelchair around to the exit whilst we are riding?

I will have a look for the book :thumbsup2 thanks very much for your help :flower3:
