Here comes another potty training thread...

We're trying to potty train 2yo DS and have come across a "problem". I put it it quotes because i don't know if it really is a problem or not. When he starts acting like he needs to go potty I'll ask him if he needs to go sit on the potty and he'll look right at me and say NO. Sissy (6) will then ask him if he needs to go potty and he'll run towards the bathroom and say LET'S GO! Should I continue letting his sissy take him to the potty if it helps him to potty train easier or should DH or I insist on taking him???

Same thing happened between my daughter and son (son being older). It never seemed to affect her and eventually she let me/DH take care of the potty.

Whatever will work! I just thought to myself while reading (I have a 2 year old too) "that is it!! I will have DD take him!" Sounds great to me.

Here's my experience and what I've found works for us.

Instead of asking if the child needs to go potty, I say "it's time to go potty" and then we go. I just add it into our routine so it becomes just part of what we do around here. Similar to all of the other daily tasks -- time to eat, time to go outside, time to clean up, etc, etc.....

I think it's easier for me because I'm not dealing with my own kids. They tend to cooperate a bit more. But I did find doing this with my own two helped. And, since I've done daycare for 9 years, I've helped potty train my fair share.

I do agree with the other poster, whatever works, is great.

Best of luck!
