Potholders in villas?

I was just wondering if there were usually potholders in the 1 BR villas. When we were at HH in November, on Thanksgiving, there were no potholders to take our things from the Thanksgiving dinner out of the oven, so we had to use folded towels so our hands wouldn't burn. Does DVC usually supply potholders or should we bring a couple next year?

Yes there are supposed to be pot holders. I've called and housekeeping has delivered nice new ones. Don't know why they would go missing -- they aren't particularly unique.

Thanks,it did seem like a strange thing not to supply.

BTW, I'm a Woodstock girl-proud life member of the Woodstock Fair's Agricultural Society. Have 15 years of official posters in my kitchen.

Hey Simba's Mom:

You can get potholders for the room.

Slightly off target, but...DIsney has some really cool potholders in the houseware section of a lot of the stores right now. Its an actual oven mitt that looks like Mickey's gloves. It is so cool.

Of course you wouldn't want to buy pot holders just to have in the room, but its a cool souvenir. Of course, I saw it when I was in a hurry, and then didn't see it again, so maybe next time.

I am at BWV now and the list on the kitchen cupboard door says there should be 2 pot holders, but we have none. I'll not be calling for them since I don't intend to give DH any crazy ideas about cooking while we're here! :lmao:

Often they are missing, but a call to housekeeping brings them running. I have learned over the years to check everything in the kitchen if I intend to cook on a trip. When I find things missing, I call right away as soon as we get in the room. I learned my lesson when I got half way into making pancakes one morning, and found the tuner was missing.

We were just at BWV this month and they were missing there too, so we called housekeeping and they delivered them along with a bunch of other things that were missing. It's a good idea to check and then call with a list of things missing. They are always very accomodating.

That's an excellent suggestion! Instead we waited until we were risking burning our hands to look for them.
Gee, Mickey'sApprentice, I think that's an idea-"We really need to buy these cute potholders just in case they don't have any in the room. What? You already checked? Oh, darn-guess we'll just have to take them home now!"

Simba's Mom: I only have a few Woodstock Fair posters -- one in kitchen, one in guest room, and one here in my office, but I'm also a Life Member. DH works in the Office, and DS19 collects tickets at the Fair. I look at the crafts and kid's projects and the veggies.

The Academy added Football -- year # 2, even though the teachers voted against it.

And that's the news from Woodstock.

I didn't ahve any in my rooms while I was there last week. Didn't even think to look for a list of stuff in the cabinet. Took them almost an hour to bring the can opener since the one in our room was broken apart.

Scary as it seems I do cook and bake while at DVC...I know scary, but I'm not big on eating out and enjoy my time in the kitchen. The first thing I do when I arrive is go through the kitchen supplies...there is always something missing...

Last time I stayed at OKW there were plates, glasses, silverware but almost NO cooking supplies...someone must have outfitted their kitchen with DVC pots and pans. I called house keeping with my very long list of missing kitchen items and she asked if I "really needed everything"....UM YEAH! why would I bother calling if I didn't need it....and does it really matter, its supposed to be in the room available for me to use and not have to call you halfway through making pancakes when I need a turner.... It took them forever to bring the supplies and the person who delivered it didn't seem too thrilled..oh well, the room should have been checked when the last guest checked out. OK, I feel better now ;)

I'm with you. I cook and bake as well when in Disney. Much prefer it, and thereby also need all the items they say are supplied.

...like we normally do at home.

After all, it's our "home away from home!"

If anything's missing after a thorough search we call mousekeeping for the missing items.
