Ok not sure where to post this...Anyway my fiance and I are watching the movie and he just asked me what is the coin that the little boy is holding in the beginning of the movie.I am not sure but it looks like the coin that Jack had on one of his 9 pieces of 8.If anybody knows can you please tell me cause it is going to drive me crazy all night lol.

I just happened to be in this forum so if there is a better place where this belongs I am sorry.

It is a piece of eight, which is a solid-silver spanish coin.
It was actually quite hard to come by british cash money in the new world, so traders used spanish pieces-of-eight. Pirates loved them because they were solid silver and were being shipped by the boatload across the ocean back to europe - they were easy to come by and easy to spend.

from the imdb:
Cabin Boy
The Cabin Boy, shown at the beginning of At World's End, is about to be hanged for sympathizing with pirates. He is listed as Cabin Boy in the film's credits and is played by (Brendyn Bell). He starts to sing "Hoist the Colours", the song that signals the Pirate Lords that a meeting of the Brethren Court is necessary. He is hanged and a piece of eight that he had been holding onto falls silently to the ground, foreshadowing the near end of piracy.

:rolleyes1 yo ho yo ho....

There's also bits and pieces of legend which involve magical communication between Caribbean pirates via coins. Hence listening to the coin in the Singapore scene.
