Potc Soaked!!!

I also rode it just today, in fact, only about 3 hours ago now. We were in the 3rd row, but no o e in the boat got even a drop of water on them, all the effects were working, and we didn't have any breakdown problems.

I'm sure it's happening, but I'm wondering if it's particular boats or combined rider weight as a pp mentioned

Rode last Tuesday without any problems in our boat. Attempted to ride on Friday, but it was up and down all morning before finally going out of service for a lengthy amount of time in the afternoon.

I will say that I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary on our Tuesday ride, but it was early in the morning. Maybe it's only got a few good runs in it per day.

I don't understand why they don't shut the ride down now and start the refurbishment. They are clearly having problems, it keeps breaking down, people are getting soaked. It is the slower season now, I don't know why they are waiting and having it closed over the busy summer season.

Beccause I'm going next week and I would have scheduled my trip differently if a refurb of one of my favorite rides was planned. That's why they announce refurbs well in advance.

Do they have a fix yet? With out a plan, unless there is an imminent safety issue, they are just going to keep it running the best they can.

I don't doubt that this is happening, but I'm local and ride this quite frequently and never get more than just a tiny bit wet no matter which row I have been in. I was on it just today and nobody in the boat I was in got soaked. Maybe it depends on the combined weight in the boat or something?
I don't know why it does (or doesn't) happen to any particular boat, but I know I was almost-Kali wet from a front-row ride in late December. I won't be riding it again before the refurb unless it's a warm day and I'm dressed appropriately (sandals not shoes, wicking gear, etc.)

My son got drenched on POTC back in Nov. He was second row, left side. I was in the same row on the right and no water. We were amused, though, since this son had not gone on Splash just before this because he wanted to stay dry.

Went on in November, sat in the first row with both my parents and we got drenched. I've heard it depends on the weight distribution in the boat but not sure. I learned my lesson though to specifically stay away from the first row on future rides!

I've heard getting wet all depends upon the total weight in the boat, especially towards the front of the boat.

We rode in the front row in September and got soaked. My 13 month old actually swallowed some water. I was NOT happy.

Past two years of trips we have definitely had our share of soakings on POC - especially in the front row. Like just stepping out of a pool wet.

I took my brother on his first ride on Pirates this past November and told him there's a small drop but we wouldn't get wet. It was very cold and drizzly that day, so we avoided Splast Mtn and Kali at AK because we didn't want to get wet. I felt so bad when we were in the 1st row, went down the hill and got pretty wet. It was super uncomfortable and cold the rest of the day. I hadn't been on it since 2009 and it wasn't bad then, I can't believe how much it's changed.

We rode it last week and I just asked that we be kept away from the front of the boat to avoid the splash and she put us into the second last row. A group came that wanted to be kept together and she moved us to the back of the boat even though she could have moved us up a row. I was very thankful. :)

Ever since the boats were replaced. End of 2013.

Sorry double post. deletion no longer possible.

Our nov trip we were in the front and didn't get wet, but I will say there was a good amount of water in the bottom of the boat and the seats were wetter than usual. I think weight distribution is the reason for the different experiences.

I think weight distribution is the reason for the different experiences.

It is definitely total weight and weight distribution. When anyone gets soaked it is almost certainly because the front of the boat is low in the water. That is caused by high amount of weight in the boat, more weight in the front than in the back, or both. The key to staying dry is asking to sit as far back as possible and asking to wait for the next boat if it looks like your boat will contain multiple obese guests. Get on a boat that is mostly children and fit adults, and sit toward the back, and it should be fine.

rode it yesterday and asked for the back - no problems. Rode it today in row 4 and we were fine. On both rides there were screams and fairly wet people in the front row.

In July we observed that the boats were different. My husband and I got a lapfull of water in the front row. Called and complained and got a perk. Was hoping they had been fixed. Boo.
