ok I've rode this ride over a 100 times and even with reading some of the threads I thought ehh these people are just over exaggerating.

Well got in line got 1st row and the new boats jammed more then the old ones and leaned to the right about 1 inch above the water line.

So go down the hill that was extremely dark and got soaked head to toes. It was so bad I don't think I could have got anymore wet if I jumped in the pool.

So needless to say I will be skipping it until the refurb.

I don't understand why they don't shut the ride down now and start the refurbishment. They are clearly having problems, it keeps breaking down, people are getting soaked. It is the slower season now, I don't know why they are waiting and having it closed over the busy summer season.

I wasn't soaked head to toe..just in my lap, when I stood looked like I wet myself. Lol..we asked for front row thinking we'd get more leg room, I have a bad knee..nope we just got wet.

Same here! I sat in the front with my wife and another couple. I guess we made it front heavy? I got soaked more than Splash Mountain. It totally caught me off guard because as the OP said, I also never have gotten soaked before. But I don't remember riding in the front as much either?

I also noticed when the boat went down the small drop, it would hit the side rail at the bottom on the right so hard.. everyone in the boat was literally taken aback by it and not expecting it at all. I don't remember the boats hitting it so hard before. It happened everytime I rode it in nov.

Yep, same thing happened to me in October! I was less-than-pleased to be dripping wet with squishy shoes for the rest of the day. And I ended up breaking out in a rash from the nasty water. I will be skipping it for sure until the refurb is finished!

I too wish they would just go ahead and shut down the ride and do the refurbishment both times I was there in 13 and 14 it was shut down for having problems. Hope they do something soon.

I'd read about passengers getting soaked and warned my wife when we rode earlier this week. I sat on one side and my daughter was on the other, and neither of us got wet at all. She also got only a few drops on water on the right side again on our second ride. We weren't in the front, though.

I will agree that the ride needs a refurb. The audio doesn't sound that great, and the mist effects (with Davy Jones or Blackbeard) aren't working). It's looking worn down.

This is making me nervous. How far back do you think you'd have to sit to avoid the crazy splashes? 3rd row or further? No problem with the old splashing amount and I know we could get a little wet, but my daughter will totally freak out if she gets that wet.

The new boats sit lower in the front and definitely will get you wet. Sit in the back and you should be ok. We didn't get wet in Dec. doing so. Yes a major refurb is coming. I was told it was due to the whole foundation sinking inside. So they have their work cut out for them...

Has the refurb been confirmed by Disney yet or is it all still speculation?

We rode the other day, back row, didn't get wet-first row, lots of screaming.... My sis was on a side middle and got wet....it's pretty random- then ride broke later in day....

I noticed it with the new boats. When we went to get in the front row the bench was very wet and not from foot marks. We walked around pretty wet that night.

Next day, I sat probably the 3 row and didn't get wet at all. Avoid the first row for sure if possible!

I don't think it's been confirmed, but they've been pretty late in announcing these things before. Remember all the speculation about Maelstrom?

You don't definitely get wet in the front row. DH and I both rode in the front row this past December and we did not get wet. Not even a splash

I don't doubt that this is happening, but I'm local and ride this quite frequently and never get more than just a tiny bit wet no matter which row I have been in. I was on it just today and nobody in the boat I was in got soaked. Maybe it depends on the combined weight in the boat or something?

Glad its going in for rehab. I did not ride it on the past few trips because of the shape the ride was in and how often it went down. A ride at WDW should never become such a mess.

How far back did everyone notice this was happening? My husband and I rode twice this past May. First time we did sit in the front and noticed the seats were more wet than usual. And we did get quite a bit more of a splash. No where near soaked or anything like that, but still a good amount of water did hit us. Second time I believe we sat in 2nd or 3rd row, can't remember, and I think we still got splashed more than normal. I know we kept talking about it and started to wonder if it was intentional.
