POTC closed for 6 months?

Pirates of the Caribbean at the Magic Kingdom is expected to close for a six month refurbishment later this year.

The refurbishment is likely to begin around the summer, and run through until the end of 2015, reopening in time for the busy holiday season.

Pirates of the Caribbean is experiencing a number of show and ride system issues that require a lengthy closure. Animatronic issues, show audio problems, and continuing issues with boats taking on water are all likely to be addressed.

Disney has not yet announced or confirmed any closure.

My DH was telling me about POTC closure this morning. I told him good thing we are going in December. I can just imagine the tantrum my son would have if he could not ride it. I read a lot about people getting wet from new boats. hopefully that will be taken care of, and everything will be working next time we ride it.

That's a bummer for us and our end of August trip, this is one of my son's favourite rides. But, it's been having a lot of issues lately, so if a lengthy refurb is needed to get it back up to snuff, then so be it.

I hadn't heard that and can't find it on allears or Disney's site. Do you have the specific dates? That's my second favorite ride and one I am really looking forward to for our trip at the end of April.

Wow just hear about jungle cruise! That stinks it's one of our fav rides. We will be there the 12th through the 18th of April. But maybe I can get a fast pass for it on our arrival day

When we were there in December, it was down for technical difficulties so much that we only rode it once the entire week. Since it's a favorite, we had a FP+ for it on our departure day. That FP+ ended up getting cancelled and the alternatives they gave us were pretty crappy:

Anyway, sorry for complaining. I do think that unfortunately, an extended refurb is in order. It's just down so much, half the effects don't work a lot of the time, and then there is the ongoing issue with the flooding boats. If this report is accurate, then it's likely to be closed both times we're planning to go to Disney in 2015, which is a huge bummer. POTC has such a big capacity that when it's closed, it really affects the lines at other attractions.

Even if it's not being refurbished yet be prepared for it to be down. It's down constantly now and in terrible need of a rehab. Also be prepared to get wet!

I rode it last week and got SOAKED! If the refurb will solve that issue then I am all for it!
