POTC closed for 6 months?

This is all speculation until Disney officially announces it I wouldn't worry about it.

I wonder how much Jungle Cruise being down this springs is affecting Pirates not going down until this summer. I'm sure they don't want both rides down at the same time because then they are relying on Tiki room, the treehouse, and the magic carpets to bring people to Adventureland. I can see why they wouldn't want both attractions down at the same time.

The Web site that reported it is very reliable. So while Disney hasn't yet confirmed it, I wouldn't tell people to not "worry about it."

Funny how some people who are in the know have no idea where this came from.

This is my DDs favorite ride and she will heart broken since this time we are doing the Pirates league not BBB. But if it needs to be done I understand

I agree that they only have so many technicians to fix the rides and can't rehab too many at once. Disney may need to hire outside help to get this fixed. I have to say that I think Disney drags it's feet when it builds new rides or rehab's some rides. Doesn't 6 months seem like a long time for a ride to be down? If you HIRE more people to fix the problem, you could probably cut the ride closure to 3 months. I think 6 months is ridiculous to keep a ride closed, especially a very popular ride, especially when the CEO of Disney just got a $22 MILLION bonus last year.

But that CEO is for The Walt Disney Company, not just for the theme parks. Is that function below him on the corporate line? Yes, but it's not his sole focus. The Walt Disney Company has a lot of branches and one of them is theme parks. And then within that branch are a lot of small branches with all the theme parks. And then within those branches are twigs and then leaves on those twigs. I'd say Pirates of the Caribbean may be a twig or a leaf. And, quite honestly, as a CEO, shouldn't he be saying "an attraction that goes does once a day every day is not good"? He should be saying, "we need to improve this twig so our tree can stand longer".

So the man got $22 million. Would you want his job?

While I'm sure I'm gonna get flack for saying this, but if POTC is closed I don't see many people canceling their trip because of one ride closure. So for Disney, that one ride being closed doesn't lose them money so why spend MORE money to hire people to get a ride open that doesn't make them more then they are going to spend on the people they would be hiring.

I'm talking about people who work for Disney and I'll repeat it again it has not been confirmed by Disney so its speculation.

I'm not saying it wont happen but until Disney says its closing the ride for 6 months don't worry about it.

For what it's worth, when I was working there, many websites were reporting closures and refurbishments before we were informed of them.

One of my absolute favorite rides that I cannot wait to get on the moment I arrive WDW. However, seeing it in its current condition makes this refurbishment long overdue. This is a good thing. Pirates deserves all the love and attention to detail it can get right now. It would be nice if they added some new needed elements too it too. And hopefully bring Davy Jones back as well.

The only sad part of all of this is that it should never get to this point. These attractions should be properly maintained daily so a six-month closure is not necessary.

I wish they would just close it now and refurbish it instead of waiting until the busy spring and summer time.

History has shown CM's are typically the last to know.

VERY GOOD POINT!

Since I'm not a Jungle Cruise fan, and my trip is in June, I'm pulling for JC to be down through the 2nd week of June. ;)

Hope they fix the water issue, as in, getting wet in the boat. Got pretty soaked last trip.

Sucks that it's going to be down while we're there though.

My daughter was a CP at MK from August to January. I told her this and she said "GOOD!" She told me that POTC breaks down at least once a day and it is really a needed refurb.

And yet a ex cast member is who started this rumor..........
This thread was started by someone who posted a link to wdwmagic's blog discussing the possible closure. I'm not sure what an ex-cast member has to do with it. Disney makes changes to their refurb plans all the time, so it may or may not happen, but wdwmagic is quite often the first place to report on probable closures, and they're often spot on. If they're reporting it, there's an excellent chance it will be happening, based on their track record.
