So, I have come to the conclusion that we simply do not have the funds to have our wishes wedding in May. Does anyone have any experience with this? The wedding is scheduled for May 13, 2011 - We signed our LOA and it was for a $12,000 wedding minimum. Are you able to switch to a $10k wedding if you want? Or are you locked in to the minimum you originally agreed to. I will call to talk to the planner tomorrow...Any thoughts or past experiences would be great! I have read you can postpone up to a year...

We started a business this past year and it is not bringing in AS MUCH profit as needed to be able to pay for the upcoming wedding - we also bought a house and that also put a huge damper on the wedding payments.

The best thing to do is to speak to you planner, I'm sure they will do everything they can to help you.

We switched venue and date after we signed off on our wedding though ours was an Escape not a Wishes wedding.

Good luck with getting it sorted and with the business :goodvibes

I second talking with your planner.

I will say that in the contract it said you can switch your date within the fiscal year, but I don't think they'd let you change to the smaller $10k minimum because they would be in essence losing money. If you're a Wishes wedding you can't switch to an Escape (losing money) so changing to a less expenxive option after you've agreed to paying more may not be an option. But you DEF can postpone :)

Goodluck with everything!

You can postpone within the disney fiscal year which ends sept 30. Unless theyve changed the policy since 2008, Beyond that you're basically cancelling and losing your deposit plus any fees as outlined in your contract. If youre going to postpone, the sooner the better for you (contract fees) and for any of your guests that need to change their travel plans.

They told me today that I can reschedule for any date within a year past the original contracted scheduled date - so as late as May 13th 2012. There are only penalties if I was within the 60 days before. There is a 'cancellation fee' but it is just applied towards the rescheduled wedding if we do happen to postpone it. :thumbsup2

That's great!

That's fantastic - they were not that flexible a few years ago! If they'd had that policy then we'd have saved $2500 or maybe done a bigger wedding!
