Well, we were super excited, but we just cancelled/postponed (again!) our trip for this week due to Covid. Any suggestions on when crowds will be good to try again? September?

September right after Labor Day is usually pretty quiet. The weather then can be pretty miserable if you are not used to the sauna that is Orlando in late Summer. But if you can manage the heat and humidity and don't mind the chance of a daily thunder shower, crowd-wise, it is usually not bad.

I have a trip in mid may and september planned. sorry about your postponement, we cancelled ours for january , i had major fomo last week knowing i should've been there.

Just remember that many Southern schools (and maybe other places too) have a fall break the first or second week of October. We love the weather but in our experience it can get pretty crowded at that time of year.

October used to be our month, every year, low crowds, decent weather ....... but the last 10+ years it has been a busy month. Halloween, Food & Wine, fall breaks ... so we moved to September. But, if it's the only time that works for someone, it is not the most crowded time to go.

We almost canceled our trip two weeks ago, but ended up going because we had 2 vaccinated 5-year-olds who were really looking forward to it, plus kids in their class had gotten the virus and people at work, so we figured we may actually be "safer" to go to Disney. We kept the kids out of school the week before our trip which was the week after the holiday break and I think that was a great idea since kids came to school with the virus, as it turned out. We wore KN95/KN94 masks inside and out (even the kids) and used hand sanitizers often. We only sat in a couple of places to eat our counter service meals and had no ADRs. We were a group of 12 with a non-vaccinated 2 year old and one adult (who distanced himself as much as possible from the rest of us or wore a mask). We had a good trip - safe travels (by van), great weather and did all the parks. BUT, no one is in a rush to go back (except me). The parks were still crowded (in January!), though we did have a couple of lighter crowd days, and we don't like how Disney is charging for fastpasses, so we waited 60+ minutes for many rides/attractions which we have never done before. We didn't do a lot of attractions because of time and missed a lot of little parades/things because of the time we were in line and slow travels with 3 in strollers.

I think that, whenever you plan to go back, there are so many factors that can make or break a trip in addition to the virus, as there always have been (travels, weather, colds/flu, crowds and now $LL/G+).

Good luck and have fun with planning! Then pray, cross your fingers and just go!

Disney will always have crowds at all times of the year. Certain times of the year may have less visitors than others, but if you are seeking to avoid being in a crowd, I would suggest waiting until the covid "climate" (for lack of a better word) is something you are comfortable with, and not expect to have a crowd free trip at any time of the year. There will always be crowds at certain times (fireworks, rope drop, park close) and in certain places (lines for popular rides and attractions). There is talk of omicron declining now. It has already peaked in my area. Nothing is certain, and a new variant could emerge, but maybe the pandemic will be ending as covid switches to endemic sometime in 2022. Time will tell. Book something you can cancel and wait and see. But never expect an uncrowded trip to WDW :)

Sorry you had to postpone. I know how icky that feels.

My suggestion is late August/September as long as you're okay with melt-your-face-off heat and rain. We go this time each year and find the lower crowds worth the weather tradeoff.

Update. We have talked more and are leaning to going. We have a 2 year old and are just concerned about her.

Have a great time. But if you do end up postponing, end of September/beginning of October is a lovely time to be there. We went at the beginning of Aug 2021. The lines were out of control. My brother and his family went 9/25-10/2 and were able to get on everything they wanted to and then some.
