Post Your Wedding Cake

Great thread!

We haven't finalized our cake design yet. Even though our Wedding is just under 6 months away I still want to get the design closer to completed.

Right now all we have decided on is a 3 tier cake. The top and bottom tiers being lemon cake possibly with strawberry filling. The middle layer is going to be a bit of a spin on a red velvet cake. It will be a different color and will have cream cheese icing. Our entire cake will be covered in butter-cream.

We have thought about doing some purple on the icing because our colors are dark purple and silver. But much more than that we can't decide how we want it to be decorated.

One of the first things we did after deciding we were getting married was to find our baker because I am allergic to eggs and Larry insisted we have an egg free cake. Luckily we found an amazing lady to do our cake. It paid for us to sign our contract early because she had a drawing for those who had a contract by the end of last year to get 60% of their cake paid by her. We won! That was such an amazing blessing for us as we are on a tight budget to begin with.

Anyway, it was wonderful to find someone so easy to work with who can make our cake egg-free so I don't have to worry.

Can anyone tell me the estimate price of the following cakes and how many people they serve? They're all on the first page:

-Mickey Wave: Small Silver
-Happily Ever After: Silver (does this one come in a smaller size?)
-Golden Scroll with Castle

Can anyone tell me the estimate price of the following cakes and how many people they serve? They're all on the first page

-Mickey Wave: Small Silver
As pictured it serves 225 @ $11.50/per person. The smallest they can make it is 3 tiers (50 people)

-Happily Ever After: Silver
$12.50/pp with a 50-person minimum

-Golden Scroll with Castle

As pictured it serves 75 @ $12.50/pp. Minimum size is 65 people

:thumbsup2

I think I about gave my planner a heart attack because I didn't want one of their standard cakes. We even ended up having a conference call with the pastry chef. In the end, it was beautiful and it came out exactly how I imagined. I wanted to incorporate the Jim Shore castle that is placed at the top. I originally was going to get a chocolate castle, but when I saw this on Main Street I knew I had to have it, so I could keep it for years to come!

Thanks! I was afraid that they were going to go crazy with the drapped linens, but it turned out perfectly :thumbsup2

vanessa -- yeah, ours is NBC themed (sort of) as well, except that cake is corpse bride -- we have the topper (see PJ), so it will be a christmas/corpse cake. lol... that just sounds wrong.

At my FTW vow renewal, my guests each received a miniature cake during the dessert portion of our progressive dinner party. A few of the cakes can be seen in the following photograph:

The mini-cakes were topped with chocolate mouse ears that had been dyed "black," and the cakes came decorated in various colors of the rainbow: red, green, pink, orange, purple, yellow, etc. I'll share a few photos below:

Hi Janet2K,
I was wondering if you would mind sharing the cost of the mini cakes? Dh and I will be celebrating our anniversary in December at WDW and would love to order one of these mini cakes for our speical dinner at Narccossee's or Cali Grill. Thanks!

I was absolutely in love with our cake. It was bang on. When I saw it from the upper level of ADH, I wanted to run right to it. Amazing...and so yummy.

To recap we wanted the Mad Hatter cake but a combination of other cakes for each layer...these were what we used as inspiration...the bottom tier of this cake in greens...

...the middle layer yellow with blue and green mickeys in various shapes and styles like this cake...

We didn't want anything flowerly or weird on the layers, just some icing piping. I wanted to show our Canadian/Scottish backgrounds in the topper so I used the topper in the previous cake for inspiration and sent this awesome "paint" job that Craig made fun of...my own drawing would have been worse but they clearly understood what i wanted.

When you combined all this together the finished product was awesome!! It was one of my favourite parts of the whole wedding and it made me so sad to have to cut it. FYI, I had them leave the fondant on my pieces and it was really yummy too!!

Here it is!!
