Let me first say...my back is killing me...I read this whole thread in one day. I have to mention that I noticed it a few days ago and thought to myself "that's just stupid, who takes pictures of their food....I know what a hamburger looks like." (secretly, I once took a pic of a portobello burger at rainforest b/c I was thinking mushroom sauce and was surpised when I was served a sandwich that had a giant shroom instead of a patty). However, I'm a changed person. I vow to be a food nazi on my Dec. trip. Thank goodness my digital takes hard floppies!

Let me also say that I've truely enjoyed the commentary AS WELL as the pics.

Mr. Disney and VasCubaGuy....THANKS! Though most ppl post where the food comes from, few actually give a review. I'm one of those ppl that have bought things in the past that are pretty, but taste like nothing (sort of like martha stewart cookie recipes). I wish more ppl would recommend pastries..I have a hard time making up my mind and the CMs are too flustered to give my advice when I ask.

Ok..so I know this is a PIC thread but I'm dying for some advice. My family is on a budget (which means mostly counter service and a character breakfast buffet). We usually squeeze in a lunch at whispering canyon (all you can eat) and I'm sure most of you can see why! However, this trip is special. Not only is it the first trip we'll be staying at a WDW hotel (ASM), but it's been over three years since our last trip! I was thinking I would "upgrade" our whispering canyon lunch to a dinner at either Boma's or Ohana's. We've been to neither but we're a pretty adventurous family, taste wise. Has anyone been to both that can tell me which they recommend over the other????? THANKS DISers!

Personally, I would say Boma. They have a huge selection of exotic and familiar foods.

Boma or Ohana. hmmm, those are two of my top restaurants. That is a tough decision. For a wide variety and adventure, I would go with Boma, hands down (plus, the buffet includes wonderful desserts!). For family fun and good food, Ohana.
The good thing about Boma also if you run out of food, you don't have to wait for your "cousin" to come back to notice to bring you more. Also, you are not restricted to just starters and meats, you get soups and full entrees. So I guess I just answered the question while thinking it out. I would go with Boma.

We leave in 8 days, 15 hours, 48 minutes & 31 seconds (not that I'm counting or anything, lol) and this thread has been a Godsend! I changed my mind about our ADR's so many times & I think I finally have it right for our family!
I plan on taking lots of food pics & hope to post soon after when get home. I will also do my best to give reviews for those who stumble across this thread the same way I did.

Thanks everyone!

I spent all day looking at all 69 pages of posts!!! (while waiting for the installation guys for my new floors to come - they never showed, but that's another story for another time)

My husband thinks I'm nuts as I called him upstairs as soon as he came home from work so that he could look at some of these posts.

We're going in November and he's agreed to take pictures of our food! :hyper:

Steph,

Way to be constructive while waiting for the guys who never came!

I don't know if I can convince my DSs to take the photos when we're in WDW this November. My DH bowed out of this trip.

I LOVE YOU ALL!!! :rotfl: This thread just put me in the BEST mood!!! :jumping1: Thank you, all of you....I cannot WAIT till our trip, I've already emailed all concerned parties and told them that I'm taking pics of all our food before it gets eaten!

OH, AND i WANTED TO SAY, THE BIGGER THE BETTER ON THE FOOD PICS. SHOWS THE DETAILS, THE TEXTURES, AND THE JUICES BETTER! :teeth:

Here is a very large and very good Turkey Sandwich from the Movie themed counter service place in MGM - I can't remember the name... Maybe Backlot something????

This is a veggie sandwich that taste like a great pizza according to DH... from the same place as above.

I don't have to tell you what this is do I?

This is the old ice cream social character 'meal' - I heard they stopped this character social - this was a favorite of mine.

This is a very light banana ice cream treat from Rain forest Cafe. It was really good and light.

HA! I just KNEW there had to be such a thing as a side salad at 50's Prime Time! Thanks for confirming that for me! The allears menu doesn't show any side salads being offered, but I figured if they offer two different entree salads they MUST be able to do side salads as well.

Thanks for the pics! I am a photography lame-o so I use disposables the whole time! Good to know other DISers are on the cutting edge of digital technology! ::yes::

I know there have been many pix of the slipper, but each looks somewhat different, so here goes. What's funny is that when I called to arrange for it, I mentioned no special occasion, but when they brought it out, it said happy birthday! We didn't have the heart to tell our waiter and just played along. :hyper: :hyper:

Fish and Chips at the Rose and Crown Dining Room

LOL!! My DD13 was just in Europe for 3 weeks, 6 days of which was spent in England. She said whenever fish and chips were served, it was ALWAYS fish and chips and PEAS!!

Finally...here are some photos of food from our May trip. First up, Canolli and Chocolate Mousse from Alfredo's. The Canolli was excellent. Since ds refused to share his mousse, I would assume that it was very good, too.

Dinner at Kona Cafe is fantastic! Here are 2 shots of the Pot Stickers we shared.

Dh only gave me one tiny bite of this steak (Beef Teriyaki)--it was THAT good!! Usually, we split meals...not at Kona!
