We booked a minivan with dollar for 8 days 11/25 to 12/3 and the total estimated charges was $287.66. I used the bj's code for extra 10% off time and milage.

I just booked a minivan with National for $189.00 for a week in January. Total cost with taxes is 241.47.

Aug 22 -Sep 1 11 days

Booked through DVC Member Services (TA)
Compact 4dr. MCO to MCO
6 days (118 weekly rate) $154.00 all taxes and fees included.

The rates are really much higher this year but so far MS has given me the best rate.

We tried 'priceline' --

May 5 -12
National
Economy -- $138.99 including all taxes & fees

K, P & J's Grandma: WOW! That is a great deal from priceline! What price did you set for your daily rate before taxes and fees?

HoneyPots

At first we tried $12.00 a day for a compact -- NO
Went to midsize for $14.00 -- NO -- we expected that!!
Ended up keeping it at $14.00 for the economy. $138.99 total -- the taxes & fees sure do add up!!!
An economy will be fine for just the two of us!!:earsgirl: :earsboy:

Interesting, just found out they surcharge for frequent flyer plans-makes you wonder?!?

I have two one day rentals booked.

MCO to Dolphin
April 30
Intermediate size
used AMEX ID # 5125601

Total including taxes and fees: 47.71

Then:
Dolphin to MCO
May 8th
Inermediate size
used AMEX ID # 5125601

Total inculding taxes and fees: 27.19

I was pleased, this is lower than using a towncar service which is what we normally do. We will be changing hotels for one night on the front and back of our week, and I thought, why not rent a car rather than pay for taxis to new hotels.

I found the AMEX code on Mousesavers.com!

We may be heading to WDW in August and I need to start monitoring. I can't believe how high the rates are. We got an 8 day rental, EA for under $160 in Decemeber. Right now I can't find anything under $220. Ouch!

When you book flights with National, are you doing it on-line or calling the 800 #. Also, if we book and a better price comes up, do you call the 800 # or is there a way to do it online. I've never rented a car before and I'm scared to even really start thinking about it. We will be sharing the car expense with my parents and I don't want to screw up.

I've done it both ways.

Especially on line, if you find a cheaper rate, book it, and then cancel the first reservation.

I've done it both ways as well and I agree, make sure you print off your current (new) confirmation before deleting the other one.

Well I just jumped on the "carlson" bandwagon. best thing going for now. just hope no problems in july.

National EA 17 days intermediate 2week @ 160.00 and daily @ 45.98 total = (with taxes) = $475.05

could of gotten the compact about 40.00 cheaper but will try for something "special" on EA. :smooth:

Will continue to hold my previous Dollar compact from about a month ago for total $429.57. (just in case)

We always have used national, so happy have something solid there now. But hopefully the prices will get better. Maybe with the notices of the gasoline prices going up, they will drop the car prices. ;) We can still hope, can't we?

MKY princess:

National

Emerald Aisle/Intermediate

9 days in November

total including taxes is $290

I used the Entertainment book code and $20 off coupon.

Could I have done better?

Thanks,
Kim

kmygrl73, maybe you could do a little better, but could be your time of year too.

Mine:
Intermediate/Emerald Isle

11 days in May

total including tax $299

I used the carlson code and my one day free from National (22.99).

Kmygrl73, try the carlson code with the entertainment coupon, see if that might drop it a little.

I have a reservation for May 2 to 8, the best I could do is $180 incl tax using the Emerald Club code and the free day coupon. Carlson was higher. Disney Club was $170 but I'm a little afraid to use that. On my recent trips, I have not paid near that much. I used the Carlson code last fall for about $120 incl tax on a 5 day trip. I used Disney Club in December for $113 on a 6 day. I keep checking it, I hope it comes down.
