After a year of planning (and 22 years of dreaming), I took my first trip to WDW on November 11th. Now that I'm back, I'm pretty bummed out. DSis12 and I had so much fun and I just loved everything about Florida. So much that if it weren't for the fact that all my family is in Boston, I'd move to Florida. We had to cut our trip short because DSis got really homesick (her first ever trip away from home, and without mom and dad) so we didn't even get to go to Epcot, Animal Kingdom or Downtown Disney. We're trying to save up to go back next year for Super Soap Weekend but I can't imagine having to wait another whole year to ride Peter Pan's Flight and see the castle again.

I know I can't be alone in this. How do you guys handle the post-trip blues?

The DISboards help me a lot. Just reading the excitement of others before their trips and also the trip reports. Those are fun to read and live vicariously through the eyes of the writer. Just think of all the time you have now to plan your next trip since there is so much to do and see! :goodvibes

Listen to one of the Live365.com Disney radio stations just about every work day, and at home too. Watch any number of WDW vaction videos we have. Have about 10-15 shows on my Dish PVR that I can watch (Great Hotels and other WDW specials that have been on Travel Channel and Food Network). Read the WDW unofficial guidebook. Listen to Disney CD's while driving kids to school in the morning. Read the Disney message boards.

Finally, usually start making the plans or go ahead and make reservations for next trip. Its part of whats so great being only about 140 miles from Disney. ::MickeyMo

Jeez - Had you hit the rest, you'd REALLY be in a tough way.

i come to this website and also i check out the free planning videos.

If it's any consolation, you are not alone! I like to keep a trip in the works so we have something to look forward to. It also gives us an incentive to save $$. :wizard:

I'm already starting to feel bad about our trip being over and we don't leave for 3 more days! I just know that it will go by so fast and this time in 2 weeks, I will be back to work, kids will be back to school and our trip will be over. But what keeps me going after our trips is planning for the next one! I'm already starting to think about it!

You're not alone when it comes to WDW withdrawls. My first trip ever to the world was in 2003 and was hooked. What I do as well is listen to Live 365 radio, I love listening to the Magic Kingdom loop music. I have four very good Magic kingdom and WDW DVD's to watch, I always come to the boards and finally I have the Wishes and WDW music CD's.
Our family will always go to the world once a year, our next trip is not until Dec. 06 which will include the cruise and eight days in the world.
But it seems so far away!!! :earseek:

Join the DVC...then you'll have a great excuse to go every year...or maybe more :earsboy:

If only I could afford to! Trust me, we don't need an excuse to go! I was doing some quick calulating this morning to see if we could sneak in a trip in March or April, but no can do. Now that we know that all DSis can handle is about three nights, I'd love to go when we don't have Super Soap Weekend taking up time we could be spending in DTD or Epcot.

You definitely are not alone. But I'm not like everyone else here. I can't read these boards, listen to the music or do anything disney at all. It just depresses me more. I wanted to move to Florida too when we first started going. Honestly, the only thing that has helped is going back year after year. We usually use our tax refund $$ to go. Hopefully this year I can come back home without crying the whole plane ride.

I have only been back a week and am missing it bad!!! When the Disney 50th anniversary commercial comes on I cry. :guilty: So I talked my Dh into a trip the first of 2007 and am already making a list of what I want to do this time. When working I think of that next trip and how much fun it is going to be. I hang out on the disboards where others like me are. Makes me feel better knowing I am not alone. :goodvibes

I know how you feel. We were there in Sept. and it seems like it has been a year already. To top it off, it was our first time to stay on property, AND we had free dining. Talk about getting spoiled! (Disney-PLEEEEEAAAASSSSEEEE BRING BACK FREE DINNING!!!!!!)

I sure wish I had a video of all the rides and the parks.

Start planning and saving for your next trip, even if it seems far away. Keep an eye on the WDW website for specials, Dis boards for discount codes, and it may not be as far off as you think.

I'm happy you had such a great time at Disney- we went in September and it was a truly special vacation! The good news is- it fades in time! Now if I'm bored I'll occasionally check out the Disboards- and even better- even though I"m looking forward to returning one day- I can even think about other places in this wonderful world to go visit other than Disney! After time what remains are the wonderful memories but not that nagging sense of having to go again all the time.

I develop all of our pictures asap and start scrapbooking them and journaling about my favorite parts of the trip. This helps me beat the disney blues and gives me memories to relive again and again. I also surf these boards and watch all the disney tv i can get my hands on (travel channel, foodtv, planning dvd, etc). You could always start planning a new trip, that helps alot, too!

I really disagree :) We've been 20+ times in the last seven years and are always looking for another trip. It never fades for us. That's the magic of the place. I always have that sense of wanting to go again. Do we visit other places? Sure. But I'd rather be in Disney early in the morning on my balcony at OKW than anywhere else. I'm always ready to go back.

I feel that same thing! I am also longing to go back to WDW anytime, anyway, but alas, To put together a trip for us is really hard.( saving $$, everyone able to be free from school and work) I have talked, thought and thought and i dont see us getting back anytime soon and that is very hard!
Our last trip was last year at this time of year :guilty:
To get over the imediate feeling LOL i watch WDW shows (like the one on Foodtv) and we also have quite a few disney games, a WDW playstation game and scene it, and a new one magic kingdom board game. We also watch movies and I bought a CD set while in DTD last year....5 CD set of all the music from disney over the years. The silliest thing i do is imagine i am there.....LOL :earboy2: remembering the contemporary resort, the monorail, the rides, the meals ( we had a GREAT vacation) .....I kinda of take a mental vacation :earseek: .

Disney World does seem to stay in one's memory in a detailed way long after the trip is over. No where else have I been that I can so easily relive the experience over and over again in my mind. I think for that very reason, it is so hard to resist when the urge to return hits you.

The best remedy I have found for the post-trip blues is to plan the next trip -even if it is just at the daydream stage. It's been seven months since our last visit, so I am really itching to get back. The sad part is that we haven't scheduled another trip yet. So I just plan in my mind about what we might do, where we might stay, meals we might eat, etc.

Hey there !
Just got back yesterday after 2 weeks, we had such a great time, being from the UK can't get there as often as we like...... but the worst thing for me is leaving each park for the last time, knowing you won't be returning before the end of your trip :sad1: But since discovering Dis Boards I can still get my Disney fix :wizard:
