Post Racial President?

Rick Warren is a Christian. I didn't see that he insulted those who do not believe in Jesus however.

Well, I'm so sorry you see the inclusion of all colors in our great country as offensive. I guess it truly gives meanin' to "eye of the beholder."

I did notice that he used the traditional Jewish name for Jesus (Yeshua) as well as the traditional Muslim name (Isa) as well as the Christian name.

Is that as opposed to Rick Warren excluding non-Christians when he prayed to Jesus? :confused3

Yes, Obama had a lot of prayers said today. Don't you think he was excluding athiests? Where was the Wiccan prayer? Who's advocating for the Druids? And how 'bout those Satanists? They had to feel pretty left out. Such an exclusionary president. Tsk, tsk, ;)

But, didn't he make mention of all beliefs, all nations represented in our country? I mean, he is a Christian minister, so I would assume his emphasis would be on Christ. Like a Rabbi would be on Yahweh, Islam would be on Muhammed, and so on. Isn't Obama Christian as well?

"When brown can stick around. When black doesn't have to go to the back. When yellow can be mellow. When the red man can get ahead man. When white embraces right".

I thought Obama was the post racial candidate?

Thanks, Dawn. I missed this. I kind of like it. He's channeling the civil rights speeches from the 60s.

No, he actually addressed "non-believers" in God which probably covers most of the above.

I noticed that as well, for all the criticism leveled at Rev. Warren, it appears that he did make an effort to be more "inclusive".

Thanks loco, I always enjoy a good laugh. :lmao:

Don't forget to mention that the Reverend Lowery (a Christian) also likes those gay folks. ;)

Wow-it's getting to be a Pavlovs' dog response. I see a thread started by you and I automatically:rolleyes: -because I know that's exactly what I am gonna do when I open it.

Yep. I totally agree with you

Oh hell, did you misspell athEIst on purpose? :joker:

That would depend upon the pagan group to which you are talking about. They are fairly diverse, you know.

I would like to hear what Obama thinks of what was said.

It's a sad day when my teenager asked me if we could move out of the U.S.

Uhmmm. . .I just gotta ask this. . .is it actually possible that some of the PP haven't heard this saying before?

It's been a saying for just about forever. . .

I thought we'd at least wait a day before the pot stirrin' began.

:confused3

Sure, I've heard it before-back in the late 1960's!!! Maybe that's the era that Rev Lowery would like to continue to live in, but I thought the whole point of this historic election was that we were moving beyond that! Isn't that what President Obama said in his speeches?
