I thought Obama was the post racial candidate?

OMG was this from his speech? I missed it b/c our feed was down at work! Did he say this in his speech? I hope not! That sounds so cheesy!:crazy2:

That's how i understood it !!!!!!!!!!!

That must have been a saying back in the day. I still found it inappropriate, in my opinion.

It was in Joseph Lowry's benediction. The preacher that was asked by the inauguration committee to give the benediction.

To be fair, it wasn't from Obama's speech but from the Benediction following the poem. It was delivered by Rev. Joseph Lowery. And yeah, they were more than just a little derogatory. Not only to "whites", but Asian-Americans, Latin-Americans, Indian-Americans, Middle-Eastern Americans, and Native Americans. It was a broad stroke and divisive and truly just that little sentence (which I am sure will be pondered for some time) had no place in the ceremony.

No Obama didn't say it, it was some preacher guy (someone will come along with his name)

Still very unclassy!!!!!

Obama didn't say it, the Rev. Joseph Lowery said it.

Tasteless and uncalled for statement said during a prayer of all things.

Obama's speechwriters are smarter than that, but apparently who he picks to associate with-not so much....

but we knew that already;)

No it was from the benediction given afterwords. I didn't care for it, but it was most certainly not Obama

Wow-it's getting to be a Pavlovs' dog response. I see a thead started by you and I automatically:rolleyes: -because I know that's exactly what I am gonna do when I open it.

Is that as opposed to Rick Warren excluding non-Christians when he prayed to Jesus? :confused3

Completely tasteless and inappropriate for a prayer!!

Those words were not said by President Obama. They were racist remarks made during the benediction — of all things — by a bitter, dried up, racist fool from the NAACP named Rev. (and I use that term very loosely) Joseph Lowery.

Thank goodness!:rolleyes2
It is these types of comments that get on my nerves! I too believe this to be unclassy and disrespectful.:sad2:

Rick Warren is a Christian. I didn't see that he insulted those who do not believe in Jesus however.

Lowry really said those things??? Yellow as a reference to Asians?? How very tasteless, rude, and insulting. And shameful.
