Just back.....bummer.....I spose I could write up my trip report but that seems like such a monumental task! OK, ok, ILL get on it...How do you all handle coming back from WDW/USF to the rat race? I think I got a new name for this malady LOL :) Mae:jester:

I get the blues untill my trip is booked.

312 days and counting!:D

What a great term! And how true! I had a very hard time after my January trip. Middle of yucky weather, and back home from the happy place, and the next trip 10 months out. That was hard.

Sometimes I think this board is my lifeline to Disney and sometimes I think it makes it harder because I can talk Disney 24/7.

So, how does everyone else get over it?

i like to scrapbook my pictures, and plan my next trip. I even like to dream about my ULTIMATE wdw trip for someday. The fanciest hotel, all rest meals 2 full weeks or maybe even more.......

Perfect name for the condition. My solution: I live on these boards. Every time they go down, I go into a state of withdrawal. When I'm on them, and the message comes on "server too busy," I wonder how come I'm the one that's booted. I can't live without the DIS. None of the other boards quite compare to these, so I no longer even read the others. Everything I ever want or need to know is here. They are the best!

And, the other thing that really helps get me through post-parkum is I always have my next trip planned. Even before we joined DVC, and we only went every two years, the day we came home I booked my next trip. It makes me incredibly happy just to know I'm going back, even when it wasn't for 740 days.

I left 3 weeks ago, felt the depression coming on as we drove out the main gate!! We came home and called to add on more points at the BCV, now I can hardly wait till December for our next visit.
How many points do you need to live there? I bet someone has done the math!!!!

Aunt Sue,,,,I know EXACTLY how you feel when the Dis boards are busy, aaarrrrrgghhhhhh!!!, LOL....and youre right, they are surely the BEST on the net, hands down!.

,,,,I wouldnt be surprised if someone has done the math LOL, be interesting to know :) We can dream, cant we?

I start working on my scrapbook and reading these boards. DH, 3 DDs and I suffered so much, bought an OKW resale! Now, we get to go twice a year!

I better get scrapping! Haven't finished last year's trip or this past Feb's, and it's only 121 days till we go home again!

Yes, scrapbooking helps...as well as future trip planning!

Before DVC I was usually ready to go home...tired of restaurant food and living from a hotel room. Our last trip was our first one with DVC.....when we got back I kept going "I want to go home! Where's my whirlpool tub? Where's my dishwasher? Why don't I have a balcony and a pool?" And of course it was cold here too!

We are some of the few DVCers who aren't home owners....now I know what I want in a house! Whirlpool tub and dishwasher....that's all I ask for! Oh, and to actually have a home that's decorated rather than "lucky that its even clean" as a general motif!

Coming back to reality was depressing! I'm recovering though....started my scrapbook and the planning for the next trip! Thanksgiving...can't wait for Thanksgiving...

great idea, the scrapbooks. My daughters love those....I was thinking maybe I should start one for all 3 of my kids.....and just add to them each year. This past trip I was sans kids, so I didnt take many pics (Just a few from the balcony and a couple in the parks). That reminds me, Ive seen people post their pictures to a site and wondered where they do that and how much it costs.
Thanks for the ideas:)

there are a lot of websites that offer you some free webspace. We have a homepage on my yahoo, i think.

What a great name for my condition! It certainly fits.

Here's what I do:
- eat off our Mickey plates & drink out of our resort mugs
- play Disney music
- help other people plan their trips
- read trip reports
- daydream about being back there - can almost feel the breeze on World Showcase lagoon after Illuminations, with the torches lit, walking out with almost no crowd......

The biggest help is planning the next trip. My whole family is truly addicted and we start the countdown of days until we can be there again.....

Now you got me to thinkin'! I know we have enough points to stay in a studio for a month and a half after the kids are grown. Seems like a perfect way to spend January!

When I first arrive at the Orlando Airport, walking through the airport and passing the folks having their bags x-rays before returning to their hometowns, I already get sad knowing that will be us in a week or two!! (Am I nuts or what?!?) So, you can imagine how sad I am on our return trip.

But, we always arrive home with pictures and gifts for our family, and we re-live each great vacation with them. We also purchase a new set of mugs or dishes for our breakfast table to start off our day with that Disney spirit.

I begin to plan our next yearly trip (either at the 11-month or 7-month window) and get all happy again planning the details, looking at pictures online, and hearing about others' trips on the boards. Maybe, when we are retired, we may stretch out our points and stay a month in a Studio at an off time. Can you imagine that letdown when we reach the airport to go back to New York after a month at Disney!

LOL...it does seem that the longer you stay the harder it is to come home! I think we tend to relax more on longer trips. On short trips we burn out and are ready to go back north to rest...though we still wish we could stay and rest at WDW...its just not as bad because we're so exhausted. When you relax and fall into the flow of life at WDW....oh, its so hard to go!

I'm so glad I'm not alone. My husband and friends think I'm nuts. When we got back 2 weeks ago, I hadn't planned to be back for 2 years. Who am I kidding? I'll never make it that long.

Quote from DoeWDW, Here's what we do too:
- drink out of our Disney glasses
- play Disney music
- help other people plan their trips (My favorite)
- read trip reports
- daydream about being back there

We also, always plan our next trip when we get back. We just did an addon at OKW and now we plan on going back every 4-6 months for short trips of 3-4 days (This keeps the magic going for us).

I listen to Disney music to and from work and pretend I'm on my way.

And we always shop in Downtown Disney and have our gifts (we call them Treasures) sent home. This way after we get back, we get a nice package from Disney (delivered by UPS).

On a countdown, less than 14 days til the magic.

I plan my trips a long way out. However 2003 is going to be hard because the plan calls for me to go once...and then Disney will NOT be on the agenda...I suspect I'll wind up sneaking down Labor Day that year.

However a less expensive way to deal with it is to plan a trip a bit closer to home that will distract you while you are planning for it...for me that's ski weekends or beach weekends. You can't get either salt air or snow at Disney so while I'm planning for those I don't think of Disney at all.

Or....you can pick something similar to Disney like Vegas or Washington DC....lol. This kind of like a methadone fix for Disney addicts. If I'm really broke then I'll start working on culture by visiting Manhattan.

Post Parkum depression!!:D I like that!

That is the nice thing about DVC! If you need to feel the magic, you can just drag out the DVC materials and plan the next 5 years of DVC/WDW vacations!!;)

GraceDVC,
I had to laugh, I do the same thing at the airport when I see the people coming home and think, "Oh no...that will be us in 10, etc days!"
I actually drive myself crazy because once we get to the 1/2 mark of the trip I start saying "we only have 7, etc days left!" My kids always laugh at me and say "You KNOW we will be back!" but I can't help it, the days at WDW go by SO FAST!
Since I have bought my DVC membership it does help though, because pre DVC we only went once a year now I go at least once every 3-4 months, so it is easier to leave. I always have at least one other trip planned and always have a Disney countdown of days until the next trip on my calendar at work! Between my countdowns, trip planning and daily reading of DIS somehow the time does slowly pass until the next trip. I wonder if it is something that they put in the water??? :D
