That was over a year a half ago now. I kept the post bookmarked for a while but got rid of it after a year. It's amazing how time can fly sometimes. IIRC, it was a $10 difference and the poster made the change just so we would have the datapoint.

No, we have evidence that if you change only for a price difference you do not lose your place in line. It's been confirmed both here and on FlyerTalk.

When I book flights, I always do a round trip in one reservation. I'm not sure that there is any benefit to this other than keeping the trip itinerary intact. Although I have heard that people with one way tickets are more likely to be flagged for additional screening. No idea if that is true.
I am planning a February trip with a return home in March beyond the date that the schedule currently covers. Looking for advice, would you book the one way February flight now and then book the return flight after the next schedule release, or would you wait and book a round trip once the schedule is extended?
I am up to date on this thread so I am aware that there are probably some changes coming, possibly some big ones for Southwest passengers. I'm not sure how/if that factors in.

I usually book 1 ways for all of my flights on SWA to keep it flexible. IMO, if you see a price that you like for a ticket, go ahead and get It. If it goes down in price, use that left over flight credit to book your return flight.

I almost always buy one-way flights because I'm looking for low prices. Round trips rarely have both flights on sale at the same time. Plus, it is easier to use up travel credits when you are buying multiple flights.

I have booked one way flights with SW for many, many years now and we have never been stopped for additional screening. It makes things so much easier to check for price drops, etc.

If I were you I would book my first flight now then your return later.

My travel insurance will only cover round trips. I've done one ways on different airlines when called for, but otherwise I generally book roundtrips.

I checked this yesterday to see if I could get a deal on any future travel plans. The only $53 fare from my airport was DesMoines, IA.

Nothing good for me the last couple weeks of “deals” SWA has been posting. None of our flights have qualified. We have flights to MCO and to HNL this fall. I don’t guess our HNL flights the last week of September are ever gonna drop. They have more than doubled in price since we first booked them, but I still check everyday just in case.

Finally got some points back! My November flight has been tracking higher and higher since release, even had the WGA/WGA+ unavailable for a while. It's the only non-stop that day, so I thought it was a lost cause but I put a google flight tracker on it just in case.

Suddenly it's down to about *half* the price of what it has been tracking, which brought it under my opening day pricing by 4k points per ticket. Of course, it was one that was subject to a schedule change so I had to call in to get the points, but that's still 20k points redeposited between our 5 tickets. Woohoo!

October flights are changing. I got an email my October 17 flight changed but was just 10 minutes earlier. However I had been regreting my 5:10 (now5am) flight pre HHN for awhile but it was cheaper. Now I was able to change to a 10:20 flight. I have not been reassigned on 10/20 yet but see that my current flight no longer exists so I expect to see that change soon.

I haven't received an email, but when I search for a "new" flight, the itineraries that I am currently booked on do not come up as options.

I originally booked 7:00am GRR-->MDW (90 minute layover)-->12:30pm MCO, which was the first flight of the day out of GRR.
Now, I see a 6:30am-->MDW (50 minute layover)-->10:50 MCO, which I like, but I'm not keen on only 50 minutes for a layover. That's barely time to deplane, hit the restroom and get in line for boarding.

Here's another issue...when I checked my flights to see if it was changed, I have the notice that they have made changes. Now, I have a flight that departs at 7:00am, but only has a 20 minute layover! I'm pretty sure that the minimum is more than 20 minutes.
Depart GRR 7am, arrive MDW 7am (time change and it's a 1 hour flight)
Depart MDW 7:20am, arrive MCO at 10:50am.

I am assuming that if I leave everything as-is, I will get switched to the "correct" (6:30am) departure from GRR. I don't want to risk being on a later connection from MDW, though, because if I don't arrive in MCO at 10:50am, the next option arrives at 1:50pm. That doesn't sound so bad...but we'd depart at 6:30am--->MDW--->BWI--->MCO at 1:50pm...7+ hour itinerary!

Our return is a similar situation. We certainly don't want to get up early on our departure day, but this is also a no-parks trip so once 11am rolls around, we will be "homeless". I booked our current flight because it was cheapest and quickest. It was painful to book a 9am departure, but I was OK with it since it got us back home around 1:30pm. Our first flight was changed and moved to an earlier departure. It looks like it was only moved 15 minutes, but now it is an 8:45am departure. I know it's "only" 15 minutes, but I was struggling to accept the 9am flight. I can change, but the next flight to GRR has an arrival time of 12:05am. I can book a MCO departure as late as 7:20pm which would give us only 55 minutes for the stop and plane change at MDW. I'm thinking about the 6:15pm MCO departure, which would give us 2.5 hours for the layover, but do I want to spend an extra hour and a half at the airport, or an extra hour at WDW?

I always pick the extra time at Disney. I feel that 50 minutes is okay for a SWA flight layover, just move with a sense of urgency.

On your “homeless” time at Disney, you can still use the hotel amenities. My family will either do a park that day or sleep in and go have a nice meal or experience.

This past week on departure day we did a late breakfast at Ohana, rode the monorail, toured the monorail resorts, rode the boats around, went to Disney springs to do some last minute shopping. It was a relaxing go at your own pace kinda day.

Just check in once and it will give you your boarding pass for both flights.

As long as both flights are on one reservation, you only need to check in once. If you were planning on purchase the A1-A15 boarding upgrade, that will have to be done at the 24-hr mark for each flight.

I’m checked in for both flights. It’s the first time in a long time that we are in the A boarding group. I guess buying the WAG+ rate helped, which is why I decided to buy it in the first place. We won’t be upgrading, but thank you for the information. I might need it in the future.
