This parks Comfort Stations are pretty darn clean, although old as the hills. There is a great splash area/water playground for the kids, the sites are nice enough...but the real draw of this campground are the nature trails....ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!! (if you can see through the mosquitos), and there are tons and tons of gators in the lakes and bayous.

Great PICS Rog!!!!!

Glad the first campout was a success!!

Bandit doesn't like to touch the ground when he's camping. Such a priss. And we totally enable him by giving him his own chair:

Wow, I stumbled on to this thread this morning and it was so much fun to look through. I'm going through camping withdrawal.

DznyRulz: Cherrystone was where my parents went for years (I camped there but can't remember it). Then they switched to Maddox Family campground in Chincoteague. Thanks for sharing your pictures. It looks like a great place.

datgrt@fw: I had never heard of Willowtree Resort. It looks like a lot of fun but fancier than we are use to. We camp at Myrtle Beach state park often. I will try to post pictures soon.

datgrt@fw: I had never heard of Willowtree Resort is that on the beach or close by ???????

Wow...this looks like a GREAT campground....very peaceful and relaxing. Id love to stay here!!

Myrtle Beach State Park is one of our favorite places to stay.
Typical state park with mostly older comfort stations but a quick walk up a hill takes you to the prettiest beach ever.

Dogs are allowed in the campground (a must for us) and on the beaches fall, winter, and spring. In the summer they are allowed on the beach only in the evenings.

The state park beach is never as crowded as the beach at the strip but you can walk up the beach to get to the businesses on the strip if you want to.

This picture shows the day use facilities and in the distance the fishing dock and ocean views.

This shows our favorite site. It is one of the smallest but it is quiet and private and close to the beach.

Maggie at the Fort, thanks for posting the pics! I was just looking at the website, etc for the Myrtle Beach State Park the other day. Was there any airplane noise? I saw on the satellite photos that the airport runways are very close to the campground end of the park. We drove the only time we ever went to MB, so I don't know how busy the airport is there.:confused3
It looks nice and woodsy, much better than the wide open sites of some of the other RV Resorts. We're tenters, so the more rustic, the better.:)

GOBO Mom Lynn: It is a beautiful park but there is some airplane noise. It isn't constant since it isn't a very busy airport but the planes do go over the park. It doesn't start too early or go too late and we usually start ignoring it after a day. We were in site 163 and I'd recommend that part of the campground. We accidentally booked a trip during Myrtle Beach bike week and it was still quiet and peaceful. We love being able to walk to the ocean any time of day.

Another park near the beach to check out is Edisto State Park. It is further south but if you can get a site on the beach loop you are right there ON the beach.

I just wanted to add one lil comment re: Myrtle Beach SP, the beaches are not very dog-friendly. Pets are not allowed on the beach between something like 8am-6pm, which really hampered our enjoyment. We spent a LOT of time at the CG and very little at the beach, which defeated the purpose of driving all that way.

:santa:

Thanks for sharing all your great pics. I'm heading to our local campground Friday for 2 1/2 weeks. Can't wait, I love camping:love:
