Hi Everyone,

I am seriously considering taking a job with the corporate segment of Disney out of Celebration FL. My wife and I are in our late 20s currently renting in South Jersey(2bd 2 ba for 1300 mo) where we grew up. We would be looking for a similar place on size and price. What communities should we focus on with other priorities being safety and distance(would like to have under a 30 minute commute to work). We have about a million questions at this point so any advice on the area, actually moving to FL, or working for corporate would be greatly appreciated?

Last note, my wife is an elementary school teacher and would be looking for a job down there. How is the job market for teachers?

Bumping this because I want to follow any responses! Thanks!

There are a few close areas you can definitely get for that price range. Is the same price range realistic for the position you may take at Disney? I would think Celebration will be too expensive but perhaps check Little Lake Brian that is close to where the CPs live and I have another friend whose condo is in the same general area.

I also have quite a few friend that live just north of the magic kingdom and really like it. I believe one can even see the fireworks from his front yard. I am not sure how much rent or mortgage would be on a house in that area though.

There are a few apartment complexes in Windermere just behind the Magic Kingdom. Also the Williamsburg area around SeaWorld has some brand new complexes there.

You would definitely pay more for the same size here in town. The Magic Kingdom side of World Drive will give you a bit of traffic. Which building will you be in? Hunters Creek might be a good idea for affordability, Celebration and Westside k-8 are the closest Osceola schools to Celebration. Not sure about the location of the Hunters Creek ones, but I've driven past a couple - those are in Orange County. Sorry I can't help you with those! LOL

Congratulations on the offer! How long are they giving you to accept? Finding housing and moving that far would be hard on short notice.

Falcon Square. It is technically in Winter Garden but is actually just north of the MK back gate. My son rented there for a year and loved it. It is in the community of Independence which has houses and townhouses as well, so it has a real community feel.

Seminole county in the Sweetwater area has highly rated schools. Right near wekiva springs state park. It takes me 20 minutes to get to USO from my parents house when I visit. Might be slightly more than 30 minutes depending on where your office is. Just throwing it out there for you though.

Oh I think that is where a lot of friends currently live. A few own and others rent.

This is actually a really good question for a forum like city-data.
