We are possibly thinking of moving to Denver in the next year. I was hoping someone could give me some advice on nice neghborhoods. And all the postives and negatives to living there. Thanks so much. :goodvibes

The Denver area is fantastic - you'll love it here! There are tons of great neighborhoods. If you're looking for really good school districts, the Cherry Creek district and Littleton district are fantastic. Depending on where your jobs are, there are nice areas all over the front range. I'm partial to the South part of town - Littleton, Greenwood Village, Highlands Ranch etc, but there are lovely areas all over. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the north area of Aurora.

There's lots to do here. It's a big cultural town as well as sports - something for everyone. TONS of good theater. The weather is generally pretty good - lots of sunny days and contrary to popular belief, the winters aren't that bad. It's nothing like the wet East coast type winter.

We just moved here in December :)
Its beautiful and there is a lot to do here! Depending on what you are looking for in a place to live you have a lot of choices.

From what I can tell the South or West part of towns are wonderful. Although the West seems to get more snow

We are in South Aurora which is fine, we are in Cherry Creek School District which I love. The schools have been really good. So if youre looking at a map or Aurora, stay South of Iliff and East of Tower. We are on the Northern end of that range and I would not want to be even 1/2 a mile further North, personally. Centennial, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, and Parker (if you dont have to commute or dont mind one) are all great.

A lot of people here are from the Littleton area which is beautiful, we really debated about living over there and would really have liked to live there but the Cherry Creek schools were what sealed our decision. They have a great program for special needs kids and taht was our priority. I wish we were closer to the middle of the Metro area though now our church is in Englewood so we have to go 20-30 minutes each way several times a week.

You can check out www.momslikeme.com and search for the Denver site. Its a great site that has a ton of info! Ive gotten to know a lot of gals from there.

Good luck with your decision!

Im going to be the dissenter here-Adams County-Westminster-the part in Adams County-or Thornton/Northglenn. We lived in unicorporated Adams County for 17 years-kids went to Westminister High. Housing is MUCH cheaper on the northend-there will be 100K difference in the price of a home in Westminister and Littleton-same floor plan-same builder. the Tax base in Adams County is agriculitural and so taxes are lower-we lived just east of Sheridan Blvd-the Adams-Jefferson County line andour taxes were less than half of a similar property on the other side of Sheridan. there are Excellent schools in the North metro as well. Of course the driving force will be where your jobs are-and what kind of a commute you have. For about 3 years i drove ore than 96 miles-im a defense contractor-we finally broke down and moved to Colorado Springs to get away from that. Broomfield County is another option-its also North Metro-and lots of nice areas. I would stay away from Boulder. While its an awesome community its also very expensive even by front range standards. Depending on where you move from-the cost of living in this area is much higher than the south-but cheaper than the northeast.
