My fiance' and I are still looking at Honeymoon options for our upcoming Honeymoon in the beginning of November! We were going to go to Disney World but then we decided not to since we are going on a family trip there next May and just went in December. So then we were going to go on a cruise but that didn't happen for numerous reasons. Now I am sitting here with the idea of I want something as fun as Disney World, somewhere we have never been, and not just a short road trip to the next state. I then thought well Disneyland of course!!

But now I am researching and getting so overwhelmed! We will be there from November 6 to November 13. If we wanted to go to other places like the beach, zoo, or Sea World what would be the best options for that? How about the Disneyland hotels and the "good neighbor" ones, what does this count as?

I am sooooo beyond overwhelmed as you can see! Could you help me out please!!

If you have never been to SoCal I would make it a total package. Spend 3-4 days in DLR and then hit the road and head south to San Diego hitting the beaches and sites there. I may even suggest heading north for a day and checking out LA and the Hollywood area. Southern California is great with lots to see and do.

At Disneyland, there are the 3 Disney hotels, then there are a bunch of other hotels nearby. There are a handful of hotels on Harbor (near the pedestrian entrance) that are actually closer to the entrance of Disneyland than some of the Disney hotels. You are going during (what should be) a less-crowded time, and you should be able to get a reasonable price on one of the hotels. I don't know about the prices for the onsite hotels (they're out of our price range). This map is helpful in determining the proximity of the various hotels: http://www.accommodationsneardisney.com/Disneyland/default.asp

For reviews of a particular hotel, you can do a forum search here or visit tripadvisor.com. For offsite hotels, people here in general seem to recommend the Candy Cane Inn, Park Vue Inn, Best Western Park Place Inn (I think that's the name of it), Howard Johnson's (search for hojo) and to some degree the Desert Inn and Suites.

Somebody recently posted something about getting a deal for Sea World with a shuttle to/from and admission included in the price. I think they paid like $69, which didn't sound too bad. So, there is an option for that. You could also consider renting a car for part of your trip and doing all the Disney stuff first (or last) and just getting a hotel in the San Diego area for part of it.

I wouldn't rent the car until you need it, though. Most of the hotels charge for parking and why pay that and rental fees for a car that is just parked?

Thank you everyone for your responses! So far I am thinking from reading responses that we will see the things in San Diego such as the zoo and Sea World with a rented car. Then after that move on to the Anaheim area for Disneyland and Hollywood Studios. I have been looking at the Citypass tickets and they look like a great deal! :cool1:

Read this first. There are many questions you should be asking but do not even know yet!

I think doing the So CA Citypass would be a great option! Dh and I honeymooned at DL almost 9 years ago. We stayed at the Grand Californian for 5 nights and then went on a short 4 night cruise. We also married in early Nov and the weather was perfect!

Congratulations and happy planning!

Disneyland is awesome. You will be hooked if you go. After seven visits to WDW we decided to head out to California and for five years in a row it stole our hearts. We have done San Diego (Hotel Del Coronado where Grand Floridian got its idea but literally on the beach), San Fran, Monterey, and Yosemite National Park which is a must do heaven on earth place. I would start with a DL visit for 4 days and then head to San Diego and stay at the Del (if money is no option) to relax and enjoy each other for a couple of days. Disneyland is the only park Walt lived in, worked in, and breathed life into the attractions and it really shows. What I love most is that they know this at DL and they protect it. It really is Walt's park.
