Possible Changes at LeCellier

Well, if they are going to change it to a 2TS credit I hope it is in January.

I should be okay with my October ADR, I hope. I would like to try it one last time.

I have a November reservation so this is good news. I can understand their decision, but glad that it should not effect anyone who already has reservations.

I'm so glad we're going twice next week. I guess this will be our goodbye. We don't waste dining plan credits on a 2TS. Just not worth it.

My family and I dined at Le Cellier in November 2008 as part of the Candlelight Processional. Husband ordered coffee crusted steak (can't remember what cut)...it was disgusting. I ordered the prime rib, which was just ok...not the best I've ever had. My brother and SIL order the fillets which were really good. My kids loved the cheese soup and bread, but the soup wasn't very hot, as I remember it. Overall, the ambiance of the restaurant is nice, and we had a good time. Left stuffed, as we received appetizers, meal, dessert with the package. However, I don't think I would use 2 table services on this one.

Tho we now enjoy LeCellier, they would have to really step it up for DH and I to use 2TS there. The atmosphere just does not say "Signature" to me. And the food is not on the same level as most of the existing 2TS.
We have ADRs for Oct., which will probably be our last time for awhile.

You're referring to the coffee rubbed Kansas City strip steak, and I'm shocked that your husband didn't like it. My girlfriend and I went in March 09, we both had that cut, and thought it was one of the best steaks we've ever had.

I have a friend who works at Le Celier and she tells me that indeed it will become a 2TS starting in January 2011.

So those of us with mid-Nov ADRs should be safe? I assume they will have to close to "spruce up" the place and would guess that would be after the holidays?

I will probably be flamed for this but I just don't get the whole hype about Le Cellier. I personally think that most of the appeal is in the prices being high (therefore appearing to be a good value use of a TS credit) and the fact that it is so hard to get a reservation (which is partly due to limited capacity) and I just think a lot of the appeal is found in the triumph of actually securing a reservation there. But that's just my opinion. ;)

No flaming here, I'm of the same opinion as you. A whole lotta hype because it is a 1ts instead of a signature. On the DDP it is a good value, but plop that same plate in front of someone as a 2TS and I'll bet an overwhelming majority of those who rave about it will have a different opinion as a signature if it were the same menu.

They better revamp the menu with some larger and better quality cuts of meats. What is served now is good but not worth two TS nor the pricing of a Shulas or Yachtsman.

Hmm I wonder if they will ever open a regular priced steakhouse again since concourse is gone and Le Cellier is changing to signature

I agree, as the menu is now, it is a decent value on the DDP but would be far from worth it as a signature.

Thanks for the updates.

I would love to see LeCellier be something special again, and so long as designating it a Signature does that for the restaurant, I am on board!

I would love to see it something special. I was never so let down when I was there for my first and only visit; good but far from great steaks, long wait past ADR,and an arrogant management staff. Perhaps an upgraded menu and Le'Cellier as a signature will force it to compete for someones dollar instead of relying on it being a great value as a 1TS restaurant.

I personally have never eaten there, but have wanted to give it a try... was able to get a good ADR for our Sept. trip... good thing, cause never have been to a signature restaurant... to do that we would have to give up one of our meals or pay oop... and with our tight budget that isn't in the cards!

we look forward to the official announcement from Disney realigning Le Cellier to a Signature.

I would think that this would coincide with the 2011 DDP announcement.

Hope it is soon so we can have the discussion back on the DDP board :thumbsup2

We don't know how long the restaurant will be closed for renovations. We don't when the restaurant will close. It might close 1/1. It might close earlier so it can re-open 1/1 as a signature restaurant.

Do we *know* that it will close?

No and that wouldn't be my prediction. I believe menu changes on 1/1/2011 to reflect it's signature status. But I'm not sure that it necessarily needs to "shut down" to do that.

the 2010 ddp plan is also in place for a few days into the new year, things don't become effective for 2011 until Jan11ish or so

Dismagic1 - what does your friend say? is there a rehab period? Or are they just changing the menu and widening the aisles? ANother poster's DD who works there is reporting a rehab period

(another reason that this stuff stays on the rumor board until official sources make the announcement :))

My friend didn't make any mention of a rehab period.

Do you know what date, exactly, the 2011 rules come into effect? I ask because I will be arriving 7-Jan for a week and have assumed I will be under the new rules (whatever they are) for the trip. From what you say, I may be under two different sets of rules.

The year rules are based on your check in date so you will definitely have 2011 rules. Typically they don't start refurbs during the crazy busy holiday season but tons of refurbs start in the first few days of Jan.
