Portofino 2 nite to 1 nite

I have a ressie for two nites and need to shorten it to just one nite. When I called to make this change I was told that a one night stay was not available and i would have to keep the 2 nites. I explained that all I needed was for the second nite to be canceled and then someone else could have a one nite. "This is not possible." was the answer I got.

What do I do now?

In peak times, this is not unusual. Perhaps you could check one of the other Universal hotels.
