Tell me all about the good portable DVD players you have. Brand? Price? How well they work? I'm going to be looking for 2 for Christmas. I'd love to find a decent one at a good price. Thanks for the info!

Hi! We have a Mintek and it works great. It is about 2 years old($119.00 after a $10.00 instant coupon from costco) and never had any problems. You can get great deals on them at the Black Friday sales. The closer to Christmas the cheaper they get.

I would stay away from Magnavox. Unless things have changed recently, they use an odd battery connector that is very easily broken.

I bought a Craig portable player from Toys R Us last year on sale - originally $199 for $99 and really like it. It is not a fold-up unit, just flat screen and dvd slides in. It has a strap and is great to strap around the headrest of your car seat. The child does not have to hold it. The problem with it is that there is something wrong with the connector on the top where you plug in the charger cable or the lighter cable - it won't stay in and does not get a good charge. So after about 2 hours of play, it runs down. I even bought a new charger for it and that is not the problem. Now I know why it was on sale. But I really like the way it is made and am trying to find another made similarly to it.

bought a dual screen RCA with game unit . games never worked and the whole thing stopped working on our way back from WDW. Real disappointment.

We also have a Mintek and have had no problems with it and it is at least 3 years old. I don't remember the exact price but I know we got it between Thanksgiving and Christmas on sale for under $100. It has been a great investment, we are now looking at buying a second one so that each of our daughters can watch their own movies.

My mom just got one for DS at Sears. Its an off brand, but its a 10 inch screen with a bunch of features. At 9 yo, thats important to him.

I use my laptop :happytv: The screen is better, it has sound, I have a car charger for it and less gagets to keep track of.;)
