Port Orleans Riverside Room Questions

We are planning to do Land and Sea next May and stay at the Poly the land part, however we would like to go a few nights early so to save money we were thinking of staying at Port Orleans Riverside.

I know that it has an open closet, will it be large enough for 6 suit cases without them being in the way of the sinks?

When you book a room with a trundle bed will you be able to get it upon check in?

We stayed at the Poly last year and thoroughly enjoyed but... 5 extra nights adds up quickly!! We are from Canada so when we put the exchange on it quickly adds up to $500 a night.

Will we like PO as well?

You should be fine with the suitcases. The closest area is about 6' long and maybe 18" deep. We have 3-4 bags and have always had plenty of room and some left over.
Ask for Alligator Bayou if you need that trundle bed. The mansion section doesn't have them...at least they didn't the last time I stayed there.

We love POR. We'll be ending our trip there next month. In fact, we liked POR more than the Polynesian. If they were both in the same area, we would always choose POR.

It's true. In the AB section you should have no problem with luggage storage. As long as you ask for the trundle ahead of time, it should be there and ready to go.

We were there in march and loved this resort. The room and staff were excellent!

Most AB rooms already have trundles, they don't get brought to the room....

When we were there in '04 (pre refurbishment) you could even fit suitcases under the "LOG" beds.

I was happy to see the pre-refurbishment part. We were there in Feb. 04 and our Mansion room had holes in the bedspread and writing on the walls. We had a pool view room and ended up on the first floor right by the walkway entrance. It was horrible. We had to keep the curtains closed all the time because people were always looking in. We also didn't like the system to the buses. No fair way for people waiting the longest to get on bus. We were waiting for bus and a group of people started running for it and pushed their way on. My husband was so angry, I thought he would have a stroke. Needless to say, POR is not a favorite and we will never stay there again. To us the extra money spent at POLY is worth the convenience you get with the boat, monorail, bus and ticket center close by. Of course we don't have to worry about exchange rates. PS-My in-laws love French Quarter. It was closed when we went.

There is also a bench type thing next to the tv that we stacked some suitcases on. I can't compare the Poly to POR because we've only stayed at POR but we love it! If you do stay there, don't miss Bob Jackson in the River Roost lounge, he is a piano man with an act all ages seem to love. Also Boatwrights, the table service restaurant, has wonderful breakfasts.

Our experience was quite the opposite of yours. Even though our room was just two months from refurbishment, it was great. Brand new? No, but magical just the same. Even though it was time for some touch up paint here and there, new linens etc. I can't say enough how beautiful POR was. One of the great things about POR is that if you don't like your bus stop, room, view etc., all you have to do is adjust yourself a little bit. We were in between bus stops in a non preferred view room. But you know what, all it took was 10-15 steps down our corridor and we were in ambiance galore. As far as the bus stops, we took a beautiful, peaceful walk to the food court/main bldg. and we were at the main bus stop too! No worries! POR is about how much you decide to enjoy it.
