Cruising the Jungle July 2025 Exercise Challenge

My new Haunted Mansion merch arrived! I'm in love with the Mansion blueprint tshirt (so soft!) and the purple flocked backpack (so pet-able!) but really torn about the new Haunted Mansion Dooney & Bourke bag. It looked white with a black online, or maybe even ivory... but it's actually got yellow-green undertones. I'm a matchy-matchy girl and I could never wear this with white clothes or shoes. But can I really miss out on a Haunted Mansion Dooney???? :P

I have a whole cart full of that merch. Probably a lot is sold out by now, but I put so many things in there! The backpack was definitely on my list. And the purple ears. And the pjs, blanket, hoodies, ornaments, etc. Great line!

Speaking of color changes, did you know the water in the Jungle Cruise isn't really muddy? An article I found online reveals the secret:

There's Something in the Water

Have you ever wondered why the water on the Jungle Cruise river has such a murky appearance? Personally, I have. Come to find out, it's not a natural muckiness! In fact, it's Imagineers employing a clever technique!

The Imagineers introduced a water-soluble dye, tinted in green-brown hues, to give the water an authentic jungle aesthetic. Located behind the “Eighth Wonder of the World” a large pump disperses the dye into the water.

Beyond its visual impact, this dye serves a crucial purpose—it conceals the boat tracks and wiring essential for the animatronics. It also helps give the illusion that the water is much deeper, like it would be in the wild. In reality, the water is only about 4 feet deep in most areas. This thoughtful technique ensures that guests remain fully immersed in the jungle ambiance.

Adding another 60! Does anyone know if the Jungle Cruise ever has 'man overboard' situations? I've seen one on the Swiss Family Robertson Treehouse, but never heard of them on the Cruise, where it seems a lot more likely.

You've heard of Pixar's John Lasseter, right? Well, back in the late 70s, he worked his way through school as Skipper John. He has even been known to do surprise revisits as a Jungle Skipper over the years. I found a couple of articles relating to his Skipper days:

https://junglecruise.fandom.com/wiki/John_Lasseter (lots of fun bits of info in this one but also mentions some unsettling issues in his past)
