What about FP+?

Nope. Just home from work and I went and checked again. No Online checkin, no Magic Bands, no Fast FP+.

Am I counting wrong? Maybe today isn't 60 days out?
We check in 11/2.

(Don't pay attention to my count down timer......I set it for the day we actually leave home )

We check in 7am and have an ADR at 9. I can put all of our bags and suitcases somewhere like bell service correct? Don't really want to leave it in the rental car and that suv is going to be brought back right after our breakfast at Cape May anyways.

Yes, you can leave your bags with Bell Services.

The very first time was during the infamously cold December of 2010 and we didn't get the vastness of DTD. Parked at Cirque; thought "wow, what an empty parking lot!" Yeah, because Cirque was closed that night so no one was down that way. Walked, in the nighttime, in the COLD, along that water and froze ourselves. And then, of course, had to walk all the way back a couple hours later. It still feels cold and big and mysterious to me.

I have to laugh because the first time DH and I went to Disney was December 2010. We froze but had a great time. We did not realize it would be so cold and of course did not bring winter gear. DTD seemed like a ghost town the one night we ventured into it. After our stay we went on PCC 2.0 and couldn't even use the pools because of the cold. Thanks for bringing back memories, we talk about it still.

Is this something I should request on our reservation or just request at check in? We have already requested a 2nd floor room and to be close to the main bus stop.

You can put this into the reservation now if you'd like. I would also inquire about it at check in as well.

32 days out and got Mickey Mail today! (The luggage tags and vouchers.) Just had to share. :cloud9: We got Mickey Mail at 32 days out last year, too!

Now to wait on Magic Bands. MDE says we have 2 days left to customize so maybe they will ship... Thursday? Arrive by Friday? :goodvibes

Put on res that I need to use luggage service when we check in you mean? Oh, I may not be able to do this?

Whoops sorry I didn't mean to quote you too. I have been out of it for family health situation. So I am sorry I quoted you.

Hey guys,

This will be my first trip to POR and also my first disney trip for our 3 year old boy (almost 4). We are booked for a standard room and i am curious if there any tips for check in requests or things he would like. We also have a 9 year old girl with us but she is far easier to please :)

Thanks for any help

If still available....He might enjoy pole fishing at POR or the pirate ship. If it's still there, check out ride makerz at Downtown Disney....make your own remote control car. Also, what about the pirate makeover thing at MK (like Bippiti Boppiti for girls)....

It could be a little manic I'm sure! Hopefully the MM+ support team have sent lots of people over to help for the next few weeks.

If the more technically savvy DIS folks are having the problems that they are, heaven help the one-time retiree visitors and their families who don't even have a computer, let alone a smart phone (reminds me of "car phone? We didn't even have a house phone..."). They are going to need so much hand-holding it is going to take forever.

Personally, I have felt for a while that they are trying to run before they can walk. The RFID-based KttW cards for door-locks, charging, park admission, etc. are really only just about stable enough to be considered as being out of their testing period. In a sensible world, that process should have been fully completed (including all park entrances converted to RFID readers) before even thinking about starting to issue Magic Bands. Then, once the Magic Band system was fully stable (and only then) would have been the right time to start testing FP+.

Piling three new technologies on top of each other is just asking for trouble IMHO. And I speak from an IT support background, having been involved in large roll-out programs.

I agree 3,000%!!! This is our 6th trip to Disney. This is the first year that I have negative feelings toward Disney. In the past, things always seemed perfect....all i's dotted and all t's crossed....and everyone could answer any question you could ever think to ask. Not anymore, not even by a long shot. I gave up on calling with questions bc I feel that most of the CMs don't have a clue what they are talking about.....to make matters worse, they don't acknowledge or admit that they aren't really sure. I've asked the same question by calling and talking to about 5 different CMs...and got 5 totally different answers (about linking tix from travelocity.....similar experiences with other questions).

We just checked in no wait, tested our Magic Bands and were upgraded from a standard room to a Royal Room garden view in Parterre Place. We are happy and ready to enjoy our visit. The CM's have been very nice and helpful.

Did you have to pay more money to upgrade?

You can just "update" your Online Checkin to enter new PINs.

I'll have to go back into my checkin, because it told me I had to do it when at POR! Off I go to check...

Nope, still the same. "To reset your PIN, please visit your Disney Resort hotel Front Desk for assistance."

I think I have decided not to add any specific room requests this trip and be surprised at what we get. I have never been to this resort so Andre's map has been very helpful. We booked preferred and judging from the map, all the locations have their advantages.

27 looks looks close to a bridge to Ol' Man Island (correct me if I'm wrong here!).

14 is close to the food court and bus stop.

15 is close to parking (we have a car).

And 18 seems to be a good middle ground. :rotfl:

I'm getting a bit excited to see what we get. :) can't WAIT to be there!!!

59 days (we arrive on Nov. 1st) to go.

Did online checking. Insist that I give DD13 ability to charge on my card. (As if..... lol! We will NEVER be able to afford ANY other Disney Experience, if I do that.... lol!)

To answer a previous post, when I try to do FP+, it tells me that I am "outside of the dates" and the screen disappeared too fast for me to read more.

So - and sorry to keep talking about MB and FP+ - none of this for us for now. I still believe in Disney magic and keep my finger crossed. Until then, it's close to 11pm here and I go back to work tomorrow morning as school starts back tomorrow for our kids, I'm gone to bed.

:tinker: Poussière de fée!

Wow what a start... Let me know if you have any other issues. That is crazy how it took that long to get the fridge and get you into the room. I am glad you got into a nice location though.

Thanks Venomhatch. We had lunch at Rivermill and it was quite good and very filling.

I haven't seen anyone wearing magic bands--I guess they are still the minority.

The water wheel is under renovations, There was a guy power washing and it was surprising how black he was getting. I hope I see it running before we leave

How do you get a microwave? I didn't think any of the rooms had them?
We asked for medical reasons-to heat a magic bag for pain relief and warming solution for nasal rinse. But like was mentioned it is not guaranteed,

CM's here are amazing and want to help you if they can

I'm booked at POR with a FD package but have an RO res the day before- plan was to pick up my package tickets "a day early" to use them on my RO day. So, will I be able to use my band as my ticket that day since I won't be checking in with my package till the next day? This entire thing is making this newbie nervous as I was already nervous about getting there and them saying I couldn't get my package tickets early- now they've added the band to make it worse! At least now that its Sept I can now say- I'm going to Disney this month and my kids still don't know!

So it sounds like Day One went well, with no long lines forming and we don't seem to be hearing of major problems at check-in so far on the forums. Of course with many times the regular staffing levels you would hope everything should go smoothly, let's hope it continues.

Andre

You had a standard normal room and got upgraded to a Royal Room?!?

Yes, we got some pixie dust, and when we found out we couldn't use the fridge in our room we stopped by the desk and they comped us $15 per night as well. We can't complain.
