Port Orleans Riverside Q&A Thread 2013, Part Three (NOW CLOSED, see 2014 thread)

We have been to DW many times but never at Port Orleans. I am traveling with 4 boys all age 12(go ahead and shoot me now). Is there a building or location that would be better for us?

If you are booked as a group of 5, you will be in Alligator Bayou. Did you book preferred? There are maps at the beginning of the thread with building locations- preferred and non- preferred. Will they want to be close to the pool, arcade, main buildings?

Thanks! No preferred, hoping close to main building for refills on drinks.

Can anyone tell me what the request options are when you do the online check-in? I was trying to search but I'm on my phone and can't get it right.

Not much to be honest. At last check it was just a choice of floor levels (ground, upper) and asking for a corner room.

Now that we have been back almost a week and I'm almost over my slight depression after a disney vacation I have decided to post. We had a great stay in our royal river view room during marathon weekend. Sent in a fax a week before our trip and received exactly what we asked for. Oak manor was just a short walk over to the main buildings and a perfect location. The room was also wonderful. Loved the royal touches. Also, I think it looks better without the bed spreads and just the runners. Busses were not a problem at all. Trip could not have went smoother. Customer service was top notch as I hurt my foot during the race. The cast member in the gift shop gave me plenty of options and expertise on what to buy. Also, would highly recommend the create your own pasta station for dinner one night because it was amazing. Overall,we had a great trip, great races during marathon weekend, and a great resort.

10 days to go and my 5 year old came down with a high fever! He just (yesterday) got his last dose of penicillin from strep throat. Hope this passes quickly!

Can anyone tell me if they sell bread/milk in the store at POR? I need to take PB sandwiches for my extremely picky 15 month old to the parks. I'm trying to avoid a grocery order if I can :)

Yes they do. :thumbsup2

We are staying for the 3rd time at POR this March. :goodvibes We are trying to decide if we want to rent a car for the whole trip or just for our arrival day when we are planning to do a couple of things offsite.

If we wanted to be fairly near the front of the lines at rope drop, how early would we want to be at the bus stop vs. what time to get going with a rental car? Would we end up with a tiny bit more sleeping time with a car vs. a bus? (for everywhere except the MK that is)

Thanks :thumbsup2

Glad you had a great trip. The Pasta Bar is a fav with us!! Even when we aren't staying at POR, we've been known to drop by specially for that :goodvibes

You get to choose your type of pasta (there are five choices I believe) then you choose your sauce (alfredo, marinara, pesto...),then you can choose to add shrimp, chicken, meatballs and such, plus other items like mushrooms, onions, broccoli and peppers.

The chef puts it together and cooks it in front of you and then it's served with fresh parmesan and garlic bread. Yum. Funny thing is it's served in a chinese take-out type of carton. It's a big portion and is enough for two people usually.

I like mixing the marinara with a bit of Alfredo, :goodvibes. Lots of veggie options to add.

In the morning it's an omelette bar! Same idea.

It was sooo much better than I had expected it to be!!

We bought it last year and with the garlic bread and a Caesar salad it served all 4 of us (with cupcakes for dessert of course!!)

Oh yum! Sounds great! I love the add in options! Might just have to try that!!! Thanks for the info!!!
