Hi I am just about to send my room request.I have been reading this site for a couple of weeks. My husband needs a scooter ,he can walk but has some mobility issues (diabetic nearopathy) .What would be the best location ,garden view near food court and a bus stop? We are going just the two of us to celebrate my birthday (59 agggh) .I know kind of lame for two oldies without kids to go. I went a couple of years ago stayed at Poly and it was great to just get on the monorail. This time I wanted to try POR it seems so nice. Thanks for any suggestions. Nan

Hi all,

I want to ship diapers via Amazon (we have Prime) to PO Riverside. Is the address listed in the first post the address I should use to do so? Thanks!!

I tend to suggest asking for WHAT you want rather than a specific building. i.e. explain the mobility issues, and that you'd like a room fairly close to the food court and main bus stop. Ideally you should have booked Preferred Location rather than Garden View, but I'm sure they'll still be able to find you something suitable.

If they are sending via post, use the PO Box address. If they are sending by courier, use the resort's street address. If in doubt, use the street address anyway. For more details of how to label the package, see www.portorleans.org/services.php#Mail.

I don't know what happened but I got kicked from subscribing to this thread but I re-subbed so all is good.

The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago! All of a sudden I realized that I hadn't received any notifications of posts in a few days. When I went on the thread I was no longer subscribed. I had PAGES of posts to catch up on! :)

On our way to the airport....can't believe this day has come. This thread was so awesome with all the info everyone contributes!!!

YAY for you!!! Have an amazing trip! For now, I'm enjoying the fact that today is our double digit day! :yay:

Nooooooooooo! We NEED you! :)

Oh, and CONGRATS to Ye Haa Bob! I've never stayed at POR so I'm not familiar with him personally, but WHAT an honor. I can't imagine how exciting that would be! :goodvibes

Well I am resubbed back! Tomorrow begins our vacation. I may be some what lower presence on here but will pop on once in a while. At least once a day!!!

I can't believe it....we are almost ready to go. Seems like forever (August) since we booked this trip. I hope I have everything packed. POR here we come! Now please tell this stupid snowstorm to buzz off....I don't need a crazy 2 hour drive to the airport.:drive:

Friday is the day to book our July trip! And I still can't decide!!!!
Our party will be: Myself, DD10, DS9, DD7 and my Best friend from many duty stations ago and her husband, and DD10.

CSR or POR Royal Room? Price is the same.
I was all set to book CSR, but then I heard about the Royal rooms at POR!

My quandary is this: i have been to WDW many times, but this is the first time for my friends and their DD. And i am in charge of all the planning and I want it to be perfect for them!
i thought the Royal rooms have a bit more "Disney" than CSR without being over the top Princess-ey for my DS9 and my friend's husband. (We were originally looking at AoA, but my son saw the Little Mermaid building and that idea got VETOED!)

Is there anything you could say that would sway me either way?

CSR was not good for me last July. The tour groups were horrible. I'm an in-shape mom...but getting older ;). The kids in the groups were harassing me when I walked alone. Luckily I'm a spitfire so I would not be intimidated by them but it was extremely uncomfortable to be harassed by kids only a few years older than my son! I know that's not a fault of CSR but it definitely added to the less than stellar time I had there. There is no food court and the quick service food is so limited. The lines are ridiculously long in the tiny area for quick service. And the 'buffet' or whatever you want to call it is limited and not very good. I only received average service from the staff. The pool slide was awesome but the pool area was really messy. And our preferred rooms were so far from the main pool, it was horrible. The beautiful fountains near our room were drained for all but one day (and no work was being done on them!). CSR is one of my least favorite resorts at Disney. I'd prefer offsite and most other on site resorts, and I've stayed at many of them.

Although its been awhile since I stayed at POR, it is so much more serene with a better food court, additional transportation, and a more laid back atmosphere (without the conventions...and I'm a convention attendee so I know how much better it is without that!)

Port Orleans Riverside's celebrated night-time entertainer, "Ye Haa" Bob Jackson, yesterday received the prestigious Walt Disney Legacy Award, awarded annually to a very select group of cast members for "keeping the magic alive through exemplary performance and commitment to the traditions and ideals established by Walt Disney".

As the highest honour one can receive within Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, The Walt Disney Legacy Award recognises those exceptional individuals who consistently excel in the categories of: Dream, Create, Inspire. The award is a global program which recognises the outstanding achievements of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Cast, Crew and Imagineers, and each recipient will have first been nominated by their leaders, direct reports and/or co-workers.

Congratulations Bob, this award is richly deserved for the amount of effort and dedication you put into entertaining your guests. Walt would have been proud of you, as you embody the values and traditions that he wanted for the parks (and now resorts) which carry his name. Wear your new blue badge with pride.

See Bob's Facebook page if you'd like to congratulate him yourself.

Tomorrow is the day I plan on booking our November stay at POR.

Is there anything I should put on our original reservation? We want the Mansions and I'm think we'd like Magnolia building. We're doing standard view and I was thinking 2nd floor (feel free to convince me of a different location.) Is there anything else we should not on the reservation at the time of booking?

Hello, who's birthday is in June and when?
My birthday is on the 18th. I love having a summer b-day! :cool1:

It's my DS's 10th birthday this year. We have been doing the Mother/Son bday trips since he turned 6. Normally DH skips the trip because of the heat and the amount of time we dedicate to SWW, but since this trip is such a long one, he is flying in on Father's Day to spend the last 4 days with us :yay:

I intend to go back and try and read everything here but there are a lot of pages to read. I stayed at POFQ my last stay and really enjoyed it but thought I would try POR in December when my husband and I go on our next trip. I'm a little worried about all of the bus stops there compared to POFQ. I will be in an ECV due to a bad ankle injury that will eventually require surgery so a lot of walking is out. I have read enough to know that I want the Magnolia section for the elevators. Where is the best stop to grab a bus in the morning to head to the parks? That's the one thing that worries me about staying here. I have been in a scooter on past trips and had to wait for a second bus so that's not a big deal, it happens but I had to wait for 4 buses in august at ASMo's and that can be annoying. Thanks for any advice.

I love this thread...what a great job Andre and thanks.

We are planning on 11/30-12/7, 2013. I think our first choice is POFQ beacusew of the size but POR seems to haqve so much more to do.

Anyway we will need 2 or 3 rooms for 3 generations that include me, my Dh, dd and her husband, DS and 2 DGS age 5 and 13. I am mobility challenged and will need a scooter. If we go POR I would think we should get preferred room.

We are hoping for some kind of discount. What are your suggestions??? Please help!

That's awesome! My husband won't fly or go with us to WDW. He is a winter person.:sad2:
