I booked in with the Canadian Free Dining offer. I am staying at POR from Sept 29-Oct 10 and we are staying in a ROYAL ROOM. :thumbsup2 I booked the trip back in August (long before the rooms were open) and had no problem getting the FD with the Royal Room.

Thanks for the info, it gives me hope that it will be offered for our rooms!

Murphy beds are only AB, none in RGR's. There are room pictures at the beginning of this thread.

im mobile so sorry I cant go through all the posts to check first... But we just booked here for August. Its 4 adults (my husband and I and my sister and her boyfriend ) in one room. right now weare booked in a "water view" room it says.. just wandering if there is a section that is better than another that we should request? thanks!

Thanks for the replies!

Does anyone have a link to a picture of the new murphy beds? I tried search but haven't found it yet.

You guys rock :cool1:

Alright, I could use some advice. We are booked July 5-12 in a Royal Room with a 10% off pin code.

I have been stalking the online availability for the summer discount of 20% off room. Up until yesterday (or the day before) Royal Rooms were not included in the discount. I checked yesterday and when searching availability (online) for the summer discount royal rooms garden view are now included. Last night I called Disney and their computer systems were showing that royal rooms are not included in the discount. I gave up and called back today to try someone else as the girl last night couldn't understand why it wouldn't let her as it should. The girl this morning was even less helpful. I searched again this morning and online availability shows that garden view royal rooms ARE included in the summer discount of 20%

What should I do? Just try calling again to get someone else? Call and ask to speak to a manager/supervisor? Or is it a case that the online system is wrong?

Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks

If it's available on-line I would just book it that way. If you already have a deposit down on the old reservation, it will refund to you.

Just book it online now, while its still available at that price, and then call the reservations center to get a refund on your old booking and add any requests/etc to the new one.

Andre,

Could you help with this? I have the hotel address from the first page of this thread but do Ineed more than that to be sure a manager sees it? I wanted to share a concern I had during our last visit.

Thank you.

I tried calling one last time and POOF it's done! SO to anyone else, Garden View Royal Guest Rooms are included in the summer discount. It just may take some patience to find someone who knows what they are doing. :cool1: Originally I had a standard royal room booked with 10% pin code. But now Total savings of $364 off the royal room garden views reg price by using the 20% discount. :cool1:

Not sure if all mailed letters might get sent via Guest Relations first. I'll PM you anyway.

Hey guys! Haven't been on Disboards in a while b/c I was trying to break the habit... Anyways, our family of 5 stayed at POR last October and loved POR. So I was trying to not book a trip for this October, but you know how that goes, so I'm tooling around and pricing out a trip and I look at my budget/costs last year and POR is $470 for the same week vs. last year.

Seriously? I think they have finally priced me out. A family of 5 can't reasonably stay on property anymore.

So bummed, b/c I really wanted to come back to POR-but, I guess if we want to vacation in Orlando we are going to have to stay offsite.

Goodbye POR-unless prices come down (which they won't) we won't be seeing you anymore.

Andre-just wanted to say you have done a great job with this forum and your Port Orleans site. I have really enjoyed both and have learned some great information. Chao Baby!

Seriously? I think they have finally priced me out. A family of 5 can't reasonably stay on property anymore.

The basic nightly rate for a weekday in October 2012 is $169 versus $164 for last October (both plus tax). In fact, in the summer, the first two weeks in August are now covered by the 'value season' rate of $164 this year, whereas it was 'peak rate' of $185 all the way up to 13 Aug last year, so someone staying (for example) the week of 5-12 August this year would find it considerably cheaper than last year.

But comparing the general like-for-like season rates, yes it's gone up, but only by around $5 per room/night as far as I can see. Everything else (park tickets/food/etc) you'd have to pay whether you stayed onsite or not.

So I suspect it's going to WDW at all which has got a lot more expensive, not POR in particular.
