Hi Everyone, we will be staying at Port Orleans for the first time in October for 9 nights! So excited. We booked a preferred room. My question is where should i "request" for a location (i know nothing is guarenteed except preferred). I was thinking building 18 as it seems though there wouldn't be a lot of parking lot views and most likely would get a garden view. and it is close to the quiet pool/laundry. Are these fair assumptions or am i missing something or a better suggestion? thanks for your help!

I am planing a surprise trip for the kids Dec 13-21. My question is about what time frame will Disney send trip items in the mail ?
I had planned on not telling them til the morning we are leaving, and I didn't want it to be ruined if one of them is with me when I stop to get the mail (both are very nosey :/ )
The trip is all paid up if that makes any difference.

We have a package booked starting August 25 and we received our Mickey Mail this Monday July 24.

We booked our upcoming trip within the 45 day window so our timing might be off. We received the Mickey mail with luggage tags and mini golf coupons within a few days.

Then 2 weeks later we got a Toy-story formatted brochure titled "YOUR STORY." on the outside of it. It's a nice guide that appears to borrow some of the info from the free custom maps we did and it has recommendations on things you like. Who knows if you'll get it if you haven't done the custom map option, but check your daily mail just in case.

We are here now. I've got 2 iPads, 1 iPod, a fat wallet, set of keys, and a couple of envelopes in it. Probably could fit a few other little things. Not sure if a camera would fit. It would depend how thick it is.

Thanks! I'll pass this information along to DH :thumbsup2

Our vacation is coming up in one month. We decided to arrive early and added a night at POR. (The package is booked at BC) We could have stayed offsite but we are looking forward to trying it out, as it is the least expensive onsite option for our family of 5, for future trips. My question is this: we will just be crashing there for the night. I would like a room near a parking lot so we can just drag our overnight bags in at night and out in the morning. I don't imagine "near parking lot" is a highly requested area ;) but...who knows, I could be wrong! Should I call to put this request on our reservation? Or this should be an easy to get request at checkin? (checking in late afternoon/early evening on a Friday)

Thanks for any info!

If you booked a Standard room you have a good chance of being close to a parking lot. It wouldn't hurt to put in a request for it though.

If you booked a standard view that will probably put you near the parking lot. You could always put "parking lot view" on your reservation. I'm sure the CM's will do a double take. ;)

:thumbsup2 :rotfl:

I actually got a GREAT room location at Pop Century by requesting "Closest to Classic Hall, Closest to parking lot." I was in a standard room that was only a couple of rooms past the preferred, and a short walk to the bus stop.
They probably did go "huh???" LOL

[ETA: Like your ticker, by the way. Great minds think alike. LOL]

Can someone tell me what exactly a standard view, royal room view is? I was just wondering.. We requested to be as close to main building as possible, but could only afford standard view royal room...:goodvibes

Here are the Royal Room view options, from http://www.portorleans.org/room-requests.php:
  • new-icon.gif
Royal Guest Room: These are the cheapest of the Royal Guest Rooms and generally face towards parking lots, or have partially obscured views (such as beside stairways, etc). Royal Guest Rooms start at approximately $30 more than regular rooms at the resort.
  • new-icon.gif
Royal Guest Room Garden View: These rooms offer pleasant views of the gardens, courtyards (including water features and fountains) or landscaping — but NOT of the parking lots. $40 per night surcharge over a regular resort room.
  • new-icon.gif
Royal Guest Room Water View: These rooms face towards the nearby quiet swimming pool. $55 per night surcharge over a regular resort room.
  • new-icon.gif
Royal Guest Room River View: These rooms offer direct views of the Sassagoula River, including some rooms which overlook the courtyards or lawns in front of the river. However at these prices some people have commented that you could almost stay at a Deluxe resort. $60 per night surcharge over a regular resort room.

Standard view is basically parking lot view. You will most likely be on the far side of the building away from the river. You may want to request the Oak Manor building, the Parterre rooms will be further away.

Nice call posting this!

Thank you! I didn't know if the royal rooms had the same views as all the other normal rooms. Thanks for clarifying! Maybe some pixie dust will come our way, and won't have to look out our window to a parking lot, but if it does it will be fine cause that is what we could afford, and will just be grateful to even be there!

Andre hope u have a great trip, we will barely miss ya, I think, but have a great vacay :)

Team!!

Last year we stayed in what I believe was a POR standard room...it had a trundle/pull out bed under one of the main beds for a child to sleep on.

This Nov we are getting a POR Garden View room....Do these have the same pull out bed or is it possibly one of the beds that fold down form the wall?

The wall beds look a little more comfy....

I appreciate the feedback! See ya real soon!! :yay: :cool1: :woohoo:

Only if you are in AB, you will have the new murphy bed; the trundles are all gone.

I am certain I had found pictures of the groceries available to buy with prices. We are doing DDP but will eat breakfast in our room most days. I'm currently price comparing Garden Gricer vs. e $20 bag fee to bring my own suitcase of breakfast food and snacks for the room, and just buying bread and milk at the gift shop. But I can't seem to find those pictures!
