Yeah you know you want too. Hey did you slip over to oak building?

Arriving this weekend with a Royal Room booking. Do you think we would have heard by now if the rooms were delayed any further?

Don't worry, I've heard that there are no further delays (although Venom's pictures from two weeks ago did have a few people wondering!).

Apparently the official cast-member handover/dedication of the building will be at 3:30pm [edit: now 3.15pm] on Friday in front of Oak Manor, and the first guests will be allocated rooms around that time. There will no doubt be a big flurry of activity from mousekeeping in the morning getting everything 'just so' for that first day.

The countdown is finally nearly over...

One of my professional services contracts, also does work with Disney. He said Disney will call and you drop everything and call in people to work round the clock to meet a deadline.

We booked a RGR for May 6-12 with a garden view, requested Oak Manor bldg. Question: is it worth trying to get a free upgrade to river view at check in, will they even do that? Looks like it would be closer to the bridge to pool, food court, etc. or am I mistaken? Looking forward to seeing pics / reviews of the RR's. Aslo, this is my whole family's first WDW trip, me, dw, dd5, ds2, we havent told the kids yet. Any ideas for the big reveal the day we leave to make it memorable. Mainly for my daughter since my son doesnt know disney world from the county fair yet. I think I am more excited than the kids will be, is that stupid?

Free upgrades are few and far between. They have to do with circumstances out of your control, such as maintenance issues, overbooking at other resorts, etc.

CM's will also tell you that it greatly decreases your chances if you ask for a free upgrade. You are basically asking for something that someone else paid for. They prefer surprising their guest when they can.

People tend to come to Disney with high expectations and it sets the tone for the whole trip. Believe me, I am just thrilled to be at POR. My room assignments have always exceeded my expectations.

Case in point, last November trip week after Thanksgiving. I took a crew of people; two couples, a 5 year old and a 14 month old. We booked the 5 year old in my room to get in the mansions. I could afford riverview, but they could only afford standard view. All we asked for was connecting rooms. I was at one end of the check-in area and they were at the other end.

Imagine my surprise when we were in Acadian House with two connecting rooms that were just completed a few weeks before. I had the corner room. We faced the parking lot and didn't see five people walk by our room all week. With two smokers, it was a great location. We were close to the bus stop and the quiet pool.

Imagine the looks on the CM's faces when a 51 year old woman bounced like Tigger halfway down the check-in area to tell them the good news. It was their first trip and they didn't have a clue. They were thrilled and both CM's had huge grins. That set the tone for the entire trip.

I would like to do a room request for our April trip.

We are in a RGR and I would like to request 2nd floor, Oak Manor, the wing closest to the pathway, corner room. Does anyone know the room#'s well enought to assist?

I know this is specific but hey... Gotta try!! :wizard:

I am so excited to see pics on Friday!

As always... Thanks for taking the time to help!

You cannot request specific rooms; the room assigner won't know why you want that room and the request will be overlooked.

Quite frankly, you are making too many requests. Most likely they will not be able to fulfill them all and you are setting yourself up for disappointment. If you do have multiple requests, it is best to be vague and list them in order of importance to you.

I can't wait to see photos from real, live guests in the rooms.
We are checking in next weekend - Royal Room, Garden View and are VERY excited! :cool1:princess:princess:princess:princess:

So from tomorrow (OK, technically Sunday, as Parterre Place is still open with the final regular rooms until Saturday) this is the new Port Orleans Riverside...

And what shade would you like for the leaves on the tress outside your room?

I rather agree with missytara that a request like that is unlikely to be met (and anyway I suspect it wouldn't fit in the requests box!). If you really want to know, the room numbers for all of Magnolia Bend are on my website - but hey why not let go a bit and enjoy some spontaneity?

Hubster is a big guy who sweats alot and a princess who changes her clothes a gazillion times because as soon as there's a speck of dirt she has to completely change lol

The problem is not the clothes its the breakfast & snacky foods and juice boxes that weighing down the luggage. Princess has a sensory issue that causes her to be the most picky eater ever & that is also why she changes her clothes alot.

My suggestions is to ship down a box with the extra stuff you need like snacks and juice boxes. We do this every trip because I have kids in diapers and a child with sensory issues.

Way to go Andre, I was wondering when a color coded map would be out. Now if you have maps of the interior of the buildings, not the rooms, the buildings, like AB, and other mansions.

Thanks again for the tips, and we will catch up here in the next few days.

with southwest we get 2 free checked luggage per person....it would be cheaper than shipping it down there.

I assume the resort will have new maps and room collateral issued soon (maybe tomorrow?) but I've thought for a while that something was needed to help all the people who keep asking where Preferred rooms are, etc.

As for the other building room-number layouts... is there a decent graphic designer in this forum who could maybe help out with such a task I wonder? I've been meaning to have a go myself, but I'm not sure my design skills with Illustrator/etc are good enough. I do have the room maps of all four mansion buildings on my site (based on the old Dixie Landings maps) but not AB or POFQ.

I could do it if I had a semi rough draft of what all the buildings looked like. We could discuss that further in pm.
