Hello again everyone, I have another question regarding the RGR views. We are currently booked into a River View, as I was looking to get a room in closest proximity to the walkway to the dining area due to some mobility issues my dd has.

Now I am wondering if I should have prioritized a quiet area instead? If anyone has any advice on which view would be quietest/least amount of foot traffic, I would appreciate it. I would assume a pool view would be fairly noisy, so we will avoid that.

When we stayed at the French Quarter last time, our courtyard was the one they held "activities" at, some of which were quite loud. I'd like to avoid that as well, if possible :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for any ideas :)

:banana:2 more days until we leave for Disney World!:banana:

I still have a bit of packing to do, so Im off to finish what I can today, then tomrrow Ill be done and DH and DS14 will pack the van. Friday we will leave around 4pm.

You are correct; she cannot use the P.O. box, you must use the street address. The info is on the sticky above; good thing you caught that.

It is correct that the carrier matters as well; UPS and FedEX will deliver directly to the resort. USPS will deliver it to a central warehouse and it would have to be hunted down in order to locate it in time for you to arrive.

Also, the shippers will mark it "perishable" and they have refrigerators in Bell Services to those packages. Similar to deliveries from local grocery services, such as Garden Grocer, etc. They split the packages in perishables, and non-perishables and Bell Services takes care of it.

Thanks - any idea who amazon usually uses? In Canada it always comes Canada Post and I haven't paid much attention to how it get's here!

Well Royal Rooms will be on the opposite side of the river from the main building, but if you get rooms on the bottom floor of Oak, say room numbers; 9071, 9072, 9073 or 9074. Those are all bottom floor rooms for easier mobility and they are close to the bridge that leads over to the main building. Now the bridge does see only foot traffic, but you can barely hear anyone because the room sits about 10-15 feet back from the walkway. Plus 9072 and 9073 have a partial obstruction of the stairs there so it will shield sound because it is solid concrete.

Don't the Royal Rooms open this week? I hope someone posts pictures of the read deal.

I cannot wait for our October trip!!

Hi all!

What are your thoughts of building 28?

We are booked late Sept with a Garden View Room, and I requested building 28, first floor.

I figure it's kind of centrally located. Fairly close to West Depot. Fairly close to the quiet pool near bldgs 24, 25, and not a huge hike to the main pool. It is a little hike to the main building, but just wondering your thoughts on 28.

Thanks!

Dan

OK, so I just moved us to POR in a RGR for June 16 for a week.

They told me I would have a Garden View in Magnolia . My two questions are, How long is the walk to the bus stop and how long is the walk to refill a mug or eat at the food court from Magnolia ? (at a normal pace).. are we talking like 5 minutes or 10 minutes?

It was more important for us to be closer to a bus stop, and from the looks of the Map, there is a bus stop very close to Magnolia..

Thanks in advance !! Can't wait !

The quietest rooms would probably be Garden View, but honestly you won't have any issues anywhere around the RGR buildings. Even a pool view would be fine as it's a smaller quiet pool, not the activities pool, and you'll still be a fair way back from it anyway:

As Venom has said, the closest rooms to the main building would be in Oak Manor, so maybe try for that? The direct river-facing ground-floor rooms in either Oak or Parterre (the wings nearest to the bridge) would both suit you fine in fact. Send the resort a fax about 3 days before you are due to arrive letting them know your more detailed requests, and also the reason why, so they can try to help accommodate your needs.

I saw a picture of a room with a murphy bed - and that bed looks really, really small. Is it smaller than a crib mattress? Anyone have the dimensions? Also, I could not tell from the photo, but the other beds looked like doubles, have they also been upgraded to queens?
Pretty exciting stuff. I stayed in POR in 2008 and liked it very much. Just wondering if it would fit the bill for my son's family.

The RGRs are in the general "Magnolia Bend" area, not in the specific Magnolia Terrace building. Your room will be in either Oak Manor or Parterre Place. The walk to the food court and main bus stop could be anywhere between about 4-5 and 10 minutes, depending on where you room is located. You don't have to walk all the way round the edges of the buildings by the way, there are cut-throughs at both ends and in the middle.

I know you can fit a 5'6" person on it no problem. If that helps.

Am I crazy for considering changing our current reservation at a RGR to a standard view to save $200 off our trip? We originally booked with a standard view, so we'd be fine with it. Then we got a discount to upgrade to a RGR for the same price. Then getting free dining added, we kept the RGR at the time b/c standard view wasn't available. Now it is, so should we save the money and downgrade our room back or stick with the royal room we are already booked with??

I don't think that is stupid or crazy. But to be honest with you when you walk into the room you will be impressed. I promise you wont feel it to be a waste when your there looking at all the wow factor of the room. Plus the kid or kids will love it.

Thanks! Are they standard rooms, or preferred rooms or something else?

The Murphy Beds are in all of the Alligator Bayou section to my knowledge. The buildings closer to the main building are preferred and have an additional charge of $25 per night there. I believe those are buildings 14, 15, 16, and 18 are preferred.

Since AB is for a family of 5, it is quite likely you will get placed in the mansions.

You can request being in the mansions (Acadian House or Magnolia Bend) and link your reservations, so you will be close to each other.

We were in two connecting rooms in Acadian last year with refurbished rooms and it was heavenly.

Thanks! We are all linked as a GG so I dont think they will put us in AB if there are Mansions available. :cloud9:

oh ok.. Thank you for the knowledge :)

Andre makes a good point. There are little ways of cutting down on your trek from your room. It may take a few trips, but you will find it out of necessity.

Do not follow the "number signs". They take you far out of your way sometimes. Parterre Place comes to mind.
