No way a family of 5 can book a royal room, right? I have three little girls who would love it.

I don't know if they can do that for you there. What are the ages? Maybe if the youngest was small, like toddler or close to that maybe. I don't believe they do cots anymore. You can always ask and if you run into trouble private message me and I'll look into some ways of asking actual resort personel.

We are booked at POR RGR for 4/11 - 4/16. Just this week I called to add a porta-crib for the baby, and also requested Oak Manor. We are booked in a standard RGR, and the CM told me there are no standard rooms at Oak Manor, and we will be in Magnolia Terrace. Now I'm pretty sure that's wrong information - isn't the other RGR building Parterre Place? But my question is : is it true that Oak Manor has no standard RGR rooms, and if that is the case, will the other building be done by 4/11 or will they upgrade us to Garden View at Oak? What do you think?

You are correct, they are wrong.

Standard view rooms will be in either of the Royal buildings (there's a parking lot right behind both buildings, they can't all be garden views!). So Oak would be a perfectly reasonable request, and probably what you'll get anyway to be honest, unless Parterre is completed before you arrive.

I also made reservations thinking we were getting queen sized beds. I might have to call and see what they say! I am really nervous that we wont even get a garden view since according to the website the resort is full and we arrive at 1130pm!! I doubt there will be any pixie dust at check in

The amount of incorrect information coming from the CMs is getting ridiculous. I wonder if other resorts are having the same issue.

It was not the view, it was the beds I really needed. It was a long call they had to check to see when I booked and see if the queen beds were listed on the website at the time. If I booked after they removed it I would have had no luck.

We too booked upon being told we were guaranteed queen beds, which is important to us as our kids are older and health issues between my DD4 and myself make it hard with the smaller beds. and it gets harder to sqeeze in beds together. I have called 4-5 times since making the reservation in early August and was told every time that we would get a room with queen beds. I just called again this morning and the guy thought I was an idiot for making sure this was a request on our reservations, he kept assuring it was standard for POR to have queen beds, I tried to explain to him they dont all yet, but he swore they did. I am hoping we have queen beds when we check-in, but what if we dont? Should we say anything? If nothing is available will they upgrade our reservation to a resort that does? We are a family of 5. Im not looking for an upgrade, we LOVE POR and it is where we rather be, but Ide take an upgrade if it was offered to be more comfortable!

I completely understand. My kids are 17 and 15. When I called the Disney Reservation number I asked to speak to a supervisor because I figured a regular CM could not solve my problem...but before I called I was planning to make sure at check in I was going to speak up to make sure I had queen beds. I've just been informed that rooms which overlook the river in Alligator Bayou buildings 14, 27 etc officially count towards the River View category rather than Preferred Location. So if you plan on asking for those rooms, you would stand a better chance if you book a River View and request AB 14/27 (as those rooms are included within the River category), rather than booking Preferred and requesting a river view (as that would technically be an upgrade).

I think we will book the river view and then request 14 or 27. Even if we get 38, it can't imagine that it would be like the walk we had at CBR. Not that we're lazy, but it was freezing cold and my husband had to hike miles to refill his mug every morning. Ok, it probably wasn't miles, but it was a long walk.

Im not really concerned about the view. We also selected garden view because it said queen beds. I booked in early Sept. From what I read here, it doesnt sound like there will be anymore refurbs done before we go. Sounds like they are concentrating on the RR. I guess I just think if I paid extra for queen beds, I should have them. Going to give it a try and worst thing that can happen is they say no, or maybe knock some money off. But I really wanted queen beds We are traveling with friends, and sharing beds...

From the front of building 38 (i.e. the location of furthest AB river view rooms) it's about 330 yards to the food court door, along a nice riverbank pathway. Just enjoy the fluffy bunny rabbits and ducks along the way.

Just wanted to pop in and say that we've been here since Tuesday. We love it!

We are way back in Bldg 38, which has been refurbished, but the kids enjoy the walk (which still isn't long at all, and the north depot is near here).

I love the grounds as they feel homey to me. I can see why the complaints are in regards to spread out/walking and that there's not enough "Disney" feel, but I enjoy the atmosphere and am glad we get a break from the constant bombardment of characters and activity. We have yet to try the pool, though, as it's been pretty crowded with older kids for me to attempt swimming with my 5, 3, & 1-yr-old. I do know of the quiet pools, but those aren't the ones that my kids are interested in.

We will definitely stay here again.

As for the parks right now, we've done MK, Epcot, and DHS so far (AK is tomorrow....today we'll just be hopping between the three). And we've been able to pretty much walk on any rides!

On the phone with Disney now...ugh!!...she has no clue what she is talking about! She is telling me that almost all the rooms have queen beds. She said all of 14,36,37 and 38. And 2nd floor of 15-18,24 and 27 and 34 and 35. She also gave me some building from French Quarter!
She is telling me they assign the rooms in the morning and if we have queen beds requested we will get them....

I'm sorry, but WHAT?!?!? That sounds so specific a piece of information that it couldn't be random. Maybe someone is sneaking round putting queen-size mattresses into random upper floor rooms only?

(Unless there really is a plan to add queen mattresses to existing rooms in the meantime to avoid the Garden View booking issues?)

We are barely able to sleep in a queen!! I want a king!! My husband is tall and requires alot of leg room....or maybe its just that he sleeps in the whole bed and not just his side

Us too lol We once had a king bed on vacation and it was pure heaven. Husbster & DD5 wiggle & squirm alot in their sleep .... maybe I should put the 2 of them together and let me have my own bed
