When did you make your reservations? I just booked about 2 weeks ago, wondering if that would make a difference for the free dining. I booked online. Guess it's worth a call?
or does it have to do with when your stay is? We're not going until April 23rd.

We booked the end of Nov. The free dining thing was only until the end of March.

So as you know I have posted about the garden view queen bed being an issue when I arrived. Well I called today and asked for a supervisor and got some one in operations and told them my saga of booking garden view queen beds, calling the hotel and being promised they are ready, and then being told when I put it on my requests that it was only a request. and guess what..........I am going to the POLY!!!!! but I will back one day when they finish the refurb because I really want to stay at the POR.:cheer2:

Congrats on the upgrade! Have you ever been there? If not you will love it. If yes then you already know.

That's great! I'm in the same boat. We booked the garden view for queens back in October. We aren't going until late April so with each passing day I know our chances are better we will get the room we want. I emailed my TA today and she said POR is really "backtracking" on things and nothing is guaranteed. Pricing out the upgrade to a deluxe showed me it is not do-able if we have to pay for it. Oh well. I suppose I won't worry about it and then about two weeks prior have my TA call to check in on it. Glad it worked out for you!

I was there 12 years ago when I was on a company trip. I can afford it on my own so this is a treat!!!

Well we can appreciate that yeah things can be tight sometimes and we are just happy to be at Disney each time. But this year we got a upgrade also. So again congrats, hope you and your family have a great time.

That goodness for that pixie dust because I could not afford that upgrade.

This will be our first stay at POR (only having stayed at values and CBR previously)...soooo, what should I know??? I can't wait!!!! :yay::yay:

Congrats and welcome, You will love it. The building I would request that has rgr rooms, would be the OAK building. It is the closest of the two to the main building with the food court, the big pool, and main bus depot.

Ugh! I am getting really nerves with all of the talk about the royal room upgrades. I was so happy when we were able to change our ressie from the FQ to the royal rooms but now im starting to get a pit in my stomach. I am a major planner. I researched everything I needed to know about POR. Plannned out the whole week.
Now I'm in wondering if it's going to happen. We called last night just to finalize some details and to pay our balance. The CM told us they are not booking the RR anymore for April & may they are over booked and it not looking good at all for the progress of completion. By our dates 4/17-4/24. She said some will be available but not many.
Problem - CM have given me the wrong info b4 so what do I believe. I can handle the upgrade but it's the not knowing that is driving me crazy! And my family we have 2 RR 's booked! Ugh

With those dates you should be fine. Rest assured. If you were in any danger they would have called you with plenty of time to change anything if they were going to do that. There will be 256 rooms on opening day. Then another 256 after that in the next building.

Strange, I'm just playing around on the Disney website, and they seem to be still taking online bookings for the Royal Rooms for the dates I put in for March. :confused3 I will be happy either way-looking forward to my first stay at POR, but if they offer me a deluxe I'll be all over that. We're only there for two days anyway (post-cruise).

Yeah that's what I just saw also. So yeah no worries for anyone still on the way for March / April dates now apparently.

Trying to decide whether to use Garden Grocer or not, how much is a 1/2 gallon of milk at the store onsite?

I kind of thought that myself, that everything should be fine by mid April. the CM last night made me all worried." it doesn't look good" comment. The opening day is still March 9th right?

i just checked $3.29 for milk. honey nut cheerios were $6.59 a box. I almost died. I'm going to ship some items like snacks ups or fedex

CONGRATS:woohoo: We are exactly 6 weeks from staying in a RGR:banana: Our oldest DD has been bugging us if we can stay in that room next time we go ever since we showed her the drawings of the room last year. We also have a big problem justifying the cost of the rail resorts. Hopefully you will enjoy POR as much as we do:goodvibes

Yes 3/9, is correct!

I was told you can take the boat to downtown disney and get your milk at Hess which is across the street from Planet Hollywood or whatever that place is and its alot cheaper than getting it at the gift shop at POR. This is our first time going so dont go by me.

It looks like the buildings that the RGRs are in are fairly close to the food court, is that right?
