Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter Room Request Fax Thread

Done, although they've got to do final a 100% audit to confirm that.

Phew! That is good news:thumbsup2 With 2 lil DD's we need a fridge:)

One more question, I have put in my request when I made my ressie and have also faxed it again a few days again. Would checking in online affect any of that or just check-in when I get there? Always wondered:)

Online checkin can be done up to 60 days in advance, whereas sending a fax would be nearer 3-5 days out, so online checkin should normally have been done well before faxing.

So we were just at POR in RGR in Feb. We sent in room request and got the most perfect room we even sent a thank you fax to them . Now we will be going again Nov 10-16 (we normally go in Feb but we will be having a new baby!! so we didn't really plan on this trip this year and can not afford the RGR but we wanted one more trip before the kids out number us :) anyway we are booked for regular Garden view room. The issue is our son has autism and is not good with change and thinks we have to be on the top floor and ride an elevator which I know is only in the mansion section right? If I recall AB doesn't have them? So when we had the RGR I knew our chances were better since they are in the Mansion but since this is a regular Garden view I was worried should I put in our request fax that we really don't care what the view is because Garden was just the cheapst available at that time and we will take a standard view we don't care we just would like to be on the top floor of a building with an elevator?

Or what is the best way for me to ask or our speciifc request. Some just woulnd't understand but it would be complete melt down everytime we left the room and went back to the room.

I would just explain it like you have here, that your son has autism and after your previous visit he fixates on having to ride an elevator to get to a top floor room, which would put you in Acadian House or Magnolia Terrace. The central sections of either building would work well for you as those have third-floor rooms near to the elevator.

Let them know third floor mansion building is more important to you than the view, and that you'd be fine if you don't have a garden view just as long as you get that upper floor room with elevator access.

Hope it goes well for you, and you all have a great time.

I get it. I think the chances of you getting the mansions are greater anyway though, if you are not a party of 5. I would think asking for a top floor building with an elevator would be fine but I'm sure it can't hurt to mention that you would take a standard view if possible as I have not seen anyone on here mention that they've ever "downgraded" a room. : ) I am mentioning my ASD boy in my fax so I don't see anything wrong with doing that as well, so they know why you have that request. For us it is the anxiety of getting lost and losing his bearings. We also have Garden View, but in AB since there are 5 of us, so we are hoping for a building close to the main river path, so he doesn't feel so "lost in the bayou". ;) Good luck!:goodvibes

Wow I feel like low of the low today. I haven't been on top of my game here today. Just have too much going on. Thank you both for filling the gap for me.

Honestly, I usually don't respond, because well, i know nothing about this other than common sense ! And let s face it, you are the expert, and I know you will get to it as soon as you can anyway! : ) I just felt compelled to respond to another ASD mommy, that's all. Don't feel bad. : )

So I sent in my faxed request (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=49683073#post49683073) that I shared on this thread as recommended on a Tuesday prior to our Friday October 11th arrival and requested:

1. Connecting rooms
2. Mansion Building
3. 2nd Floor
4. One fridge between two rooms

And I initially got none of the above :(:
1. non connecting rooms
2. Alligator Bayou
3. 1st Floor
4. No Fridge

However, luckily when my FIL checked in prior to us arriving he knew what I had requested and the CM at the front desk was able to get us Rooms next door in Magnolia Terrace with 2nd Floor. ::yes::

So, do not hesitate to ask again is the moral of this one I guess... and maybe my fax was too late or not received at all or just not well-received/appreciated or... :confused3.. who knows. I wish Venomhatch had seen it when it came in though.... owell. We enjoyed our stay at Riverside (except for the long 45+ minute waits for the buses from the resort to parks on 5 of 7 days) and things worked out after all.

Anyone know what trick or treating is like at the resort? Since the resort is so large is it crazy busy like we should get there early and stalk the candy - lol- kidding but trying to figure out what it may be like. Thanks

It's usually great fun. Fairly low-key comapred to the Halloween party at the Magic Kingdom of course, but still plenty to do. The schedule is on my website in the Recreation Schedules page, and most things are daytime so they don't get too busy. Don't forget to get some photos!

I didn't think anyone was stepping on toes. I just am not on top of anything today. Had a lot on my plate and mind lately.

It does happen sometimes. Lines get crossed. That's why I like to hook guests up with the means to call them directly, not some call center, so they can verify that it could be possible to achieve these requests if they can reasonably accommodate them. I wish I could have been there for you. But I am at a different resort completely.

Thanks Andre for the response about Halloween since I posted on the wrong thread :). Got to get better at this posting thing, much better at reading threads. We are looking forward to being there on Halloween though!

Your fine. But did you find the main thread ok?

I do not have a ASD child, but I do think that if you mention the reason, that WDW will accommodate this as a medical request based upon ASD status. They have always granted our requests for room location (ground floor, close to XXX) based upon prior hip surgery, bad knee, etc. and the reservation agent has said it would get priority b/c of medical basis. I would also call and have it noted on your reservation, not just faxed in. have a wonderful tirp. Elaine

Less than 24 hours and I am officially on vacation and I'll be on my way to POR. Hope the fax gets me some magic, I'll report back.

Can't wait.......:dance3:
