We are looking to book for next year and this time we have decided to try one of the Disney resorts instead of our old favourite The Wyndham on I-Drive.

We like the sound of both the above so could anyone help us decide which would be the best with a 13 year old and a 3 year old (boys).

Thanks
Gail

I have stayed at both and if I had to choose again I would pick PO over CB. I think CB is spread out much more than PO. But overall both are great

POFQ is a lovely little resort, not butlinesque at all. The good thing is that you can park fairly near your room and there is not a long walk to anywhere else. The pool is also well themed. POR is larger and has a table service resturant.

The PO resorts also have the boats to DTD which are a nice ride.

We've stayed at both and would choose POR over CB.

The only tangible differences I can think of are the boat to DD (which I love :) ) and the POR foodcourt, which we much preferred to the choices at CB. Other than that, it's really down to personal preferences - they are both beautifully landscaped and the rooms are pretty much identical, other than theme.

Have fun choosing! :sunny:

Can I ask a question on this...Is Port Orleans Riverside and French Quater actually on the same complex?? Do they share facilities??

They are separate hotels that are next to each other (short walk through the grounds and across a bridge) but yes you can use facillities of both, and both have DTD ferry stops.

Oooppps! :confused3 Sorry, didn't mean to be offensive calling POFQ 'butlinesque' - but its just that some of the accommodation is arranged in a large 4 or 5 storey block of flats - whereas all the PORS accommodation is in low rise (2 storey) colonial house style.
One advantage of POFQ would be that it was refurbished in 2004 so the room furnishings are probably nicer ??? I must say that the room furnishings at the PORS were starting to look a bit dated.

What we particularly liked about the PORS was that there were separate smaller pools in the middle of each accommodation section, which were nearly always empty, and saved walking up to the large pools - I don't know if the other Disney hotels have this arrangement too ?

Both hotels can use the lovely looking pool at the POFQ :sunny:

Just to add CBR also has 'quiet' pools around the resort, along with the main 'feature' pool :)

Definitely PO over CBR - not even a close run thing! :cool1:  :Pinkbounc

:sunny: Hi

We have stayed in CBR and POFQ. Would choose POFQ again. Its just been refurbished so is nice and fresh. It's quite compact so a nice stroll over to the foodcourt with your refillable mug. The boat trip to DTD was great. It's got a nice quiet bar but you can also use the bar at POR which has an entertainer 3 times aweek which all the children loved. :)

Both are quite close to each other and are rearly well positioned for all of WDW.

:goodvibes

Another vote here for POFQ. Although it was a long time ago that we stayed at Port Orleans, Dixie Landings (as they were then) and Carribbean Beach - I would definitely go back to POFQ for all the reasons mentioned. Loved the theming and the whole atmosphere and a big plus is the boat to DTD.
