We are booked for a Standard room to save some $$'s and got that great AAA rate - plus an extra $15 a night for our adult age 20 DS.

We asked for building 4 or 5 and away from smoking area's.

If there are now Garden view rooms - most likely we will be in buidling #4 facing the parking lot.:confused3

BUT - we will be about 20 feet away from the bus stop :goodvibes that is a good thing on a rainy summer day (we go next year late June into early July).

Since everyone walks by your room, our curtains will be mostly closed - so who cares what the view is? :rotfl:

I assume we do not hear the cars or see car head lights from building #4 parking lot view - OR am I wrong about that ? :confused3

We've had rooms facing the parking lot in building three twice, we really never even noticed. No noise at all and you really don't even notice the parking lot because of the foliage. In fact, I think the parking lot view rooms that we've had were even quieter than other rooms we've stayed in at POFQ, hardly anyone walking past.

Just got back from 5 days and 4 nights at POFQ! Our only request was for conjoining rooms so we expected to be in building 6 or 7. We ended up in building 2 right next to the pool and river. One of our rooms ended up being a corner room as well! We definitely had a lot more trouble with the buses this trip which will be explained in my trip report. I was also kind of disappointed in the fountain beverage choices in the food court. Everyone in my family buys a refillable mug when we arrive. It's just the cheapest way to go in the long run. I don't drink soda but I thrive off of lemonade. Much to my disappointment they did not have regular lemonade. They only had pomengranate lemonade which was disgusting and left my choice to be between water and well.....water.

I'm so sorry that you're feeling disappointed. Do you absolutely have to have a King room? My DH and I normally feel like we do since we're both VERY tall, however, it saves about $30/night depending on when you go, so if you're staying a week it could save you $200! I know that's not a 'huge' amount, but we often choose to skip the King so we can save the money. Just a thought :)

King room is a must for us -- we like the extra space having only one bed creates and we are used to a king bed at home; at least on vacation we don't have a beagle sleeping with us. I'm looking at eleven nights -- we leave home on a Sunday after church (dh is the preacher), miss one Sunday, and have to be back home the following Saturday so he doesn't miss another Sunday. With driving, we spend one night on the road each way.

Most years when I go solo I end up with a king bed room.

I have four cats, so it takes me about a day or so to realize I have the entire bed to myself.;)

Just booked my stay here for 2012 :) It will be my first time staying at a mod. I like the small size of the resort but it's good to know I can use any of the amenities at POR if I want to. I'm so excited!

We will just miss you... we are headed there in 21 days!!! I'm so excited. It will be our first stay there, and it seems like the type of resort that I want to be at!!! :dance3:

Wintershawl, I hope you will LOVE POFQ as much as we do!!! We will be there from 6/24-7/1, so sounds like our trips may overlap!!!

26 sleeps!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

CANNOT wait!!!!

So excited about finally meeting the lovely POFQ!! We have been on Youtube nearly every day, our 3 yo son is looking forward to "having breakfast with the faces" and "sliding down the dragon's tongue!" which is taking a little explaining to the random people he keeps announcing it to!! :rotfl:

Thank you summerlady !
Nice to know not many people walk by your room.
DH likes the priivacy - he is a spoiled deluxe guy. He thinks he can get a less expenive teacher rate at the Dolphin - :rotfl: he can not beat the POFQ AAA rate I snaged @ $177 a night including tax.

will this be a problem? We were originally were booked for Pop and I had room requests. Will they transfer? I don't want them to. Should I call? How many days out from your tip is too late to add or change your request? Thanks!

Oh, and has anyone put in their request what they don't want? Like simply anything but the furthest out buildings like 7, 6, or 1.

You can change your request at anytime, just call central reservations. It's best to do it at least 2 weeks ahead of time if possible. You might just want to add a request stating "close to food court/main building" or "close to pool". All buildings at POFQ are really close to the main facilities. We stayed in Building 6 last time, and it was wonderful (previously in Buildings 3, 4 or 5)! The great thing about Building 6 is that it is completely surrounded and there are no parking lot views!

Enjoy your trip :)

Thank you!

I checked availability for our dates and all that's left is river view. Are there a lot of these rooms?

POR has everything, but King beds.
Actually there are LOTS of rooms left. CR and Poly only have the most expensive rooms left, AKL is getting there. CSR, BC, YC are sold out, but just about everything else is still available w/ less than 2 wks out. I wonder if no summer deals except that 30% off deluxes worked for them this summer?

After reading everyone's room requests, I realize ours are not common so I really hope we get our request. We want top floor in building 6 or 7. We have a standard room and there should be plenty of standard rooms available in 6 and 7.

54 days! :goodvibes

Yes, there are plenty of river view rooms and the view is lovely! :cloud9:

I have a feeling the absence of summer deals may have resulted in more visitors opting for off-site properties. There are some really great deals out there! I would miss the convenience of being on-property, but if this trend continues, we may also start looking at other properties (at least for some of our visits to WDW! ;))

Sorry to side with your husband, but we've been going back and forth on the same thing! When are you going? There is currently a $139/night rate available at the Dolphin. (this is without tax and resort charges, with that included, it ends up around $160 I think.)

Am i right in thinking i can arrange for a package to arrive at POFQ before i get there as long as i put my name and check in date in with the address.
I want to order from amazon us, and was thinking of ordering a week and a half before we arrive, to make sure it gets there either before we do or during the 2 week time we are staying.
With the cost to post to the UK it makes sense to get it posted to the hotel
Many thanks

Can you explain more about the "teacher" rate? That sounds very interesting!!!

Yep, I do that all the time with Amazon US. Address it with your full name and your arrival date on the package as well as the resort address, and aim for it to get there about the same time you do, giving two weeks for it to be delayed.

You should go to the Swan/Dolphin FAQ to ask about that (it's only available at those properties):
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2566726&page=129

They have discounts for Teachers, Government Employees, and Nurses. Those discounts used to be better than the AAA discount, but lately those discounts are all about the same (typically 10-15%). Swan/Dolphin are Starwood properties and often have other "special" rates. Please go to the above thread for any other information you need -- lots of Swan/Dolphin experts there. :thumbsup2
