I could be wrong but I remember for our trip in March that only the bakery portion of the food court was open at 6am. The rest of the hot stations didn't open until 7am I think.

I've been waiting for the 45 day mark to pay the balance of my ressie. I finally get one today, and they say "final notice", seems it was due on the 8th and the email came today, the 10th. I never got a first notice, and I always check my spam every day, sometimes important things end up there.

I just never am late with bills and such, so I was surprised with a "final notice". Anyhoo...I'm all set to go  let the good times begin.

I am so looking forward to getting back to POFQ. :goodvibes

Yep, you're absolutely correct. I should have been more specific in my reply.

I read somewhere recently about a family of otters that lives in the river and was wondering if anyone has seen them recently - we check in a week from today:cool1:

This will be our 3rd stay at POFQ and I think it's time we tried the beignets everyone talks about!

We check in tomorrow for a 7 night stay! :dance3:  :dance3:

I have never had these beignets, but I have read so much about them that my mouth waters every time I see the word! :lmao:

35 days and I'm getting some!

I have only had beignets at Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. So, I am hoping that POFQ does the beignets justice. Since I go in 6 days, I can report back and let you know if they are as good as the real thing..

I've been visiting Port Orleans since 1995 and two weeks ago I had my very first beignet at POFQ. So there's another thing ticked off the bucket list.

Very nice it was too, in a somewhat sugary-over-hollow-doughnuty way. :)

Just back from a 5 night stay-loved it there.Nice and quaint.I did expect the beignets to be solid and not hollow.More like a doughnut I guess. They were OK.Only got them once.

Loved the size of the resort.Rooms nice and clean.

I only saw them on our first trip, 2007. Didn't see them in 2009 or 2010 even though I looked for them. But then again, they are so elusive that it might just be a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

We looked for the otters last month and didn't see them. The river boat captain said he didn't see the otters very often, but he has seen them.

The captain also said that he's never seen a gator at the Sassagoula River in the several years he's been there since the river has frequent boat traffic and that more or less keeps gators away. We always hope to catch a glimpse of a gator from a safe distance. : )

Thanks - I will be looking for the otters next week - hope to get some early morning walks in along the river and will let you know if we see them! I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I've just posted a 360-degree room view of one of the new POFQ refurbished rooms. For some reason it hasn't worked quite as well as the POR one I posted last week (which is odd, as it was shot in exactly the same way just half an hour later; same camera, same tripod and pano-head which we didn't even re-pack, same lens, etc). For some reason the perspective has come out a bit over-exaggerated though.

Anyway, it is available on my Guest Rooms page, or directly via this link: http://www.portorleans.org//images/panoramas/POFQ-Room-2011-3652-pano360.swf. Thanks again to David for his generous help in allowing me to take these photos.

Thanks for making the panoramics.

Where in POR was that room? I assume somewhere in the mansions? Standard room? I love all the white in the bathroom! Also adore the chairs with the blue "tails".

The POFQ looks charming. Looking forward to staying there. I noticed there are 2 framed pictures in the room, but can't make out the detail. What were they pics of?

I love these refurbished rooms, especially how they "hid" the heater/airconditioner units. My only wish is that there was a sliding door instead of a curtain between the sink area and bedroom.
