Hi,

We were due to say at the Animal Kingdom Lodge in Sept this year for a week but due to the construction working being carried out we are looking to change Disney hotel.

We are considering the Port Orleans French Quarter can anyone who has stayed there please let us know what it is like. It is just me and hubby going (No Kids:cool1: ).

Or if you have another hotel to suggest, suggest away.

Thanks

Sara:coffee:

Due to stay here in Aug. We did stay at AKL last Dec and it was lovely.

We have stayed at both AKL and POFQ in the past 3 years, we also have no kids.

Firstly AKL is a wonderful deluxe resort with great pool and restaurants/food court. The rooms are nicely decorated and have a balcony/patio. The shop is interesting and does sell soem unique items of art. Watching the animals is a fun way to pass a few spare hours.

POFQ is a lovely scenic resort in the moderate range. The rooms are nicely furnished but they have no balcony/patio. The only downside is having to keep the blinds closed as the windows face out onto the walkway. The pool is nice and the foodcourt is great. Love the boat to DTD.

Would stay at either again :)

Stayed there last year. A wonderful place. Peaceful. Compact enough to be close to everything (we were in building 7 about the furthest you could get from the main building - all of a 2 minute walk. In fact we were only 10 minute walk from POR main building - closer than some of the POR rooms!!). The pool was great and the boat to DTD a dream. If we had not bought into DVC this year we would be going again.

hi and thanks all..

has anyone upgraded to a river view room?

does this have a balcony?

There are no balconies, just a walkway round the building. There are stairs at each end and in the centre of each block, so really not many people walk past. I saw people sitting outside on the walkway overlooking the river, but I wouldn't pay extra.

I can't really remember but I would think around 15 minutes. It is a very nice ride.

Maz got there before me for both answers!
