Was just starting to think about a trip next year and wanted to visit Port Issac. Was debating if the best way would be just to fly into London and use as home base. Maybe then just plan a couple days in Port Issac. Looks like the best way is to just rent a car and drive from london. Didn't feel like flying into Cornwall or Exiter would be cost effective since not sure how long we would stay in Port Issac

Unless you're planning a few stops in places like Bath en route I would highly recommend taking a train to Bodmin and hiring a car there. It may not look like a long way on US scale but with our higher levels of traffic, banks on the motorway ensuring you don't see anything and winding roads everywhere else it's not an easy drive. At least on the train you can look out the window or read a book.

Thank you for the information

Just out of interest, what made you decide on Port Issac? How have you even heard of Port Issac? It's a really small Cornish fishing visit. Don't get me wrong, we love Port Issac, in fact we were there 2 seeks ago. Although it's pretty good advice to fly to Bodin, finding an automatic car to hire might be tricky so make sure you make it very clear what you need. I'd hate to think of you navigating the narrow twisty Cornish roads if you're not used to a stick shift.
