Ive been looking at the map, and just want to be sure. For those familar with the area, what is the best / quickest route from Port Canaveral to the CR at WDW? We are cruising on Royal Caribbean over New Years then heading to WDW on Sunday Jan 2. We want to check into CR before starting our day at the World too. Also, what is that exit number that takes you down the main entrance road to WDW (you go under the welcome sign, the monorail runs alongside the road, etc)? Thanks for all your help in advance!

Hi Alison,
You will be taking the beeline (528) from the port. Just after the first toll plaza($1.25) you can go 417 south to exit 3 (Osceola Pkwy)--you will have 2 $1.00 tolls plus a .50 toll (you need the change for that one). Take a right and it will take you past Gaylord Palms and onto Disney property. You will see the signs for MK and the resort areas. OR you can stay on the beeline until it ends at I-4 west--2 tolls @ .75. Take I-4 to I believe exit 64--It will say MK. Both ways will get you to the road with the monorail. That is MK's main gate.

I live by port canaveral, and have taken both ways to work. On a Sunday morning, it will not make a difference which way you go. Both will take about an hour and 10 minutes so if you want to see the gaylord palms, take 417. If you want to see the downtown disney area, and the outlet mall, take I 4

On Thursday Dec 23 we will be making the same trip, we are driving to CBR after a Carnival Cruise !! Thanks for the question and the answer. I should be able to use the same directions right?? We were hoping to stop at a Target or something to pick up snacks and misc items for the room. Any suggestions on the route or store? Sounds like I need to pack a roll of quarters for the roads? We don't have the toll roads in AZ, that should be fun too !!! When the trip is this close, it ALL seems like fun !!

Hi Smilengirl,
You'll have pretty much the same directions, but it will be easier for you to go to I-4 rather than 417. I think the exit is 67 for the epcot area resorts. You don't need to bring a roll of quarters. :) The all of the toll plazas have toll takers (or money grabbers--whichever you prefer. lol). The lanes with the green signs over them are for the people who need change, and the blue signs are for exact change.

Now let's get you to a store. Get on the beeline (528) and exit at RT 3--it will be marked Kennedy Space Center. Take a left and you'll find a Publix supermarket on your left, and a target on your right less than 2 miles from the exit. If you prefer walmart, I can give you directions for that as well.

Have a great time on the Fantasy,
Bill

And I'll be making this same trip Sunday, 12/19 after getting of a Wonder cruise. I've done this drive in the past but a reminder is always good.

Wow Bill!! Thank You!! I am getting so excited I can't stand it!! My DD14 and DH have been poking fun for months about my addiction to this website!! (I have formed a few (okay, 4 binders organized by park, 2 spreadsheets for quick references) ideas for saving time and money) Just wait til they see just how much I have learned from my WDW buds!! I can't wait to "casually" suggest dh head for the blue signs because we have exact change for the toll!! And don't worry I will be careful with the roll of quarters seems like someone could get hurt!!
Thanks so much!!

 Can you help me with directions also. We will be leaving the Wonder to go to the Wilderness Lodge.

Also, so I do not wear out my welcome with cruisemagic, can someone tell me is there a site for directions from MCO to POP, then BCV to Port Carnaveral? :moped:

Thank you all - Happy Holidays!

Hi momoftwins,
You folks are going to be all over the place! lol Your directions are very easy. WL is a MK area resort. Just follow the directions that I wrote for alloyd1170. MCO to POP take 528 W (the beeline) to I-4 tampa, exit 65 for AK resort area. BCV to port-- follow signs to I-4 orlando, to 528E.
Have a great trip!

Oh, and by the way...after you leave the dock, the captain will make an announcement that they are going to sound the ships whistle. If you happen to be on the right side of the ship, make sure you wave at us! My friends and I are almost always at the little seafood deck/tiki bar that you can see on the water. It was real cool the day that the port closed for hurricane frances. Everyone was gone, and I wanted to get some pics of the port before the storm. I was the only one around the whole area, and as I was leaving the wonder was by the tiki. I waved and the captain sounded the whistle just for me!
