Port Arrival Time Selection

Just checked in for my first cruise leaving from Galveston. Was pleasantly surprised that they had 10:30 available as a port arrival time/ all the times seem much earlier than Port Canaveral where I have seen them start around 12 and to go 2-3 pm. Out of curiosity is this normal?

Canaveral opens at this time too. I've been able to get a PAT this early in the past. Right now in Canaveral, they are being very strict with PAT times.
If you had a PAT at 11:30 in the past but you arrived at 10:30, they let you in anyway. Right now, they are not. So the early PAT's fill up fast.
Good for you that you got an early one. I personally love getting in early. I paid to be on the ship so I want to get on there as soon as possible.
On the flip side, I always do express walk off at the end. So I'd rather get in and out early rather than in and out late.

We also recently received a 10:30 board time. I stayed up until midnight to start the check in process - leaving out of Miami. Check in now takes a bit longer when arrive, so assuming the earlier start time is to help negate that?

I recently did our check in for a "last minute" cruise in January and stayed up until midnight but had trouble with the app accepting our security photos...kept spinning and spinning...finally I came out of the app and went back in and it loaded. Lost some time doing that and wound up with an 11:00 am PAT, boarding group 6.

Very different than past Platinum experiences where you did not have to pick a PAT but I understand why they are doing it. Except, I don't understand why Concierge does not have to pick a PAT....I guess same old debate about number of cruises compared to price spent on cruise. If it was truly for safety measures than Concierge would have to pick as well. Just my thoughts.
