We just came back from this year's cruise. We did the Beatles tour in Liverpool (meh. We could have walked to the exhibition and the Cavern ourselves and see more of the town on our own) Dublin on our own and in Greenock, we went to Banockburn and Stirling castle. It was a very good tour.
The only advantage of the Beatles tour is that you get to see the streets where Ringo and George lived, John's house from the bus, and you stop briefly at the gates to Strawberry Fields and on Penny Lane. All those places are not easily accessed on you own, but there's not much to see there. If you are on a Beatles pilgrimage, they probably are a must, but they were not to us.
