What are the prefered building locations at POR? Also, are there suites, or upgrade rooms? Or are all the rooms the same?

Some of the favorite buildings seem to be AB 14, 16, 18, they are close to the main buildings, marina (boats to DTD), main pool, self parking, etc. I stayed in AB16 during Spring break '04 and it was wonderful, it was so close to the main building it was great in the AM when you really need coffee or sodas in the PM.

But do they have "prefered room" locations? Currently I have reservations in CBR for a prefered room location. The next trip we take we wanted to pay extra for the prefered rooms again, but werent sure if POR even had them.

Okay. Thanks. I guess we wont be staying there next time. I just dont like how far away some areas are from the main building. I know I could make a request for a particular area/building but that request has a chance that it cant be met by the resort. I would rather pay extra to ensure a good location.

This is incorrect! POR does have preferred location upgrades to pool and water views. They are about $10 more a night. I don't really understand the desire to pay more for view when you can't really see much from inside the room anyways due to the outdoor corridors.

Except for some of the close up parking lot views, they are all pretty at POR!

You aren't guaranteed anything at CBR either. All the moderates have the same policy. CBR is actually more spread out than POR. The preferred locations at CBR meet the same criteria as POR, water or pool view. All requests are just that, requests.

The only question I have for you is how much time do you actually spend in your room? Get out and have some fun!

There is a difference between CBR and POR. At CBR you can pay extra to be in preferred buildings. This costs extra nightly. This would be in addition to any views that you pay extra for.

POR only has the views that you can pay extra for.

At CBR Martinique and Trinidad North are the preferred villages.

I agree about paying extra for the water views. Some of them are quite creative in what they call a water view.

It better be guaranteed. I paid the extra $35 a night and I am going during slow season.

Keep in mind that the maps of the resorts can be deceptive. They are NOT drawn to scale. We stayed at POR in building 27. It looks pretty far on the map, but our room (2709) on the far side of the building was only a 2 minute walk to the food court and 3 minutes to the pool. This is with a 3 y/o and a 15 month old doing the walking! It is much easier to get a room in 27 than in 14, 15 or 18. Folks don't seem to realize how close it really is.
