I made a reservation for at king room at POR for the week of Nov. 22-29, but now am unsure about my decision. I haven't heard any good things about bus service there. Please tell me the major differences in the two.

  • Are the rooms much different?
  • Which has better bus service?
  • Which would be more appealing to a young childless couple?

:sad2:

We have stayed at both.....

The rooms are similar and not an issue.

The two resorts share the same bus (for the most part). They difference is POFQ is picked up and dropped off first.

POFQ is a small resort, POR is a much larger resort.

POFQ has a very kid themed pool, POR is would probably appeal to you more.

POR has evening entertainment, bar area and sit down dining (as well as the food court).

For your situation, I would not hesitate to choose POR. I think you made a great choice.

If it was us (young adult couple) we'd choose POFQ...

We prefer the theme and decor of the POFQ and rooms were recently refurbished within the last few years. The theme is very similar to rooms in the Mansions at POR though.

POFQ is smaller and less spread out which made for a more private, intimate feeling. We loved the themed courtyards and resort exteriors and being so close to the River. Most rooms offer lush garden views, even those directly facing the parking due to the plant vegitation. It added a very "romantic" touch to the resort.

The only thing we weren't fans of was the lack of a "quiet pool." The main pool is great and well themed but definately more appealing to kids. It was never overcrowded by any means though. The walk to POR's main building and closest quiet pool isn't that bad at all either if those are important to you.

As another poster said, POFQ is the first to be dropped off and picked up when the resorts do share. This is a huge advantage during peak park bus times.

Overall it's the small, quaint, and quiet aspect of POFQ that's most appealing to us. Everyone has different tastes though!

I stayed at POR and visited POFQ. Not that we didn't like POR but we had a very long walk to everything from our room location! We dealt with it, but becasue of that we decided if we ever go back we would pick POFQ just for it smaller size! Other than that no complaints!!! I highly recommend Boatwrights for breakfast while at POR!!!
I second what a PP said...the buses are the same as they share.

POFQ also has entertainment in the evening at Scat Cats. Eliot Dyson plays there Wed-Sun.

While there isn't a quiet pool at POFQ, the hot tub is very secluded. It sits on the other side of the laundry room. Oh, and the food court at POFQ has beignets.

No matter which you choose, you can't go wrong. But be sure to sneak in some extra romance with a carriage ride at POR. If your lucky enough, maybe you can get a time around Illuminations is going off. You can see some of the higher fireworks from either resort since it is directly across the street from there.

We have stayed at both numerous times. The bus service really isn't much of an issue unless you have small kids with strollers, diaper bags etc. They can get crowded but even if you get picked up at POFQ first and get a seat more often than not you are going to give it up to an elderly person, small child, etc and stand anyway. Both resorts are great so you can't go wrong. Comes down to size (does it really matter lol) POFQ is much smaller with shorter walk to the main building, pool etc. POR in our opinion has nicer grounds and pool. A big bonus to both of them is the boat ride you can take to PI, DTD, Westside! Especially for a couple without kids this can be handy when visiting the fantastic clubs at PI! Make sure you check them out!

If staying at POFQ, how long is the bus ride if after you are picked up you have to also pick up passengers up through POR? Does it take quite awhile or do they have some buses that go directly to the parks in the mornings?

We didn't notice the bus ride to be abnormally long.........maybe 10-15 perhaps a bit longer going to AK, not bad. There are only 4 stops at POR and one at FQ so no big deal either way.

Have not stayed at FQ but have stayed at POR a few times. We relly like POR. If getting a waterview room though you may be placed near a pool (still water in their opinion). On check in see if you can be moved to a RIVER view as it will be closer to the main building and main pool area. The smaller pool areas can get noisy. We had no issues with the bus service.

Well, the beignets alone are a plus for this transplanted Louisianan!! Otherwise, tell me about the differences in food available at each, please. We're booked at POR but are interested in FQ as well.

thanks!

I highly recommend staying at POR in one of the mansions.
