I thought I was slick when I scored a 7:30 am breakfast at Ohana on one of our MK days, since DD desperately wanted to meet Lilo and Stitch, however I am starting to second guess my options for transportation. We intend to spend the full day at MK after breakfast.

So how the heck do I get us there? My original plan was to take the bus from POR to MK, then grab the monorail over to the Poly, but I'm now wondering if any of the transportation is really up and running that early in the morning? I KNOW someone here will have the right answer for me!

All you need to do is let the hotel concierge know at check-in & they will arrange transportation for you :)

Yes, transportation will be available, but the easiest thing to do is to take a cab so you don't have to worry if you will make it in time!

I agree. For a reservation that early, I would take a cab. You can always use the Disney transportation after breakfast.

Robo, somehow I KNEW that you would have the answer. Thank you!

If you dont take a cab, tell your MK bus driver that you need to get to the Poly and he may drop you there after he drops all the MK folks off. It doesnt hurt to ask. Our driver did it for us.

I am not sure if it is totally up to the bus driver or not. Last week we headed to Chef Mickeys from the Pop Century. Another family was doing the same thing. We were the only two families on the bus. The other family asked to be dropped off in front of the Contemporary. We told the bus driver that this was fine with us. He still declined to stop there as we went by. We went back to plan A and caught the Monorail over. The other family walked. We got there about five minutes ahead of them.

I'll mention it to the driver, it never hurts. Worst case, we get to enjoy a ride on the monorail. A couple years ago DD and I were waiting for a bus from MK to POR, and the line was amazingly long. PoFQ bus was sitting there nearly empty, with NO line, so we hopped on. The driver saw us come from the POR line, and when she stopped at French Quarter, she stopped us from getting off, told us sit down, she would drop us at POR.

A few nights later, we did the same thing, wound up getting off at PoFQ, then missed the last ferry back to POR by literally seconds, we saw it leaving the dock lol. It was a nice, but long walk back to POR after being in the park all day.

2 or 3 cab rides make a WDW vacation a much more relaxed experience. Pretty much everything in WDW, when staying on property, is a $15 tops and under 20 minutes from any other WDW location via cab. I have the Mears taxi number programmed into my phone.

If you want to use Disney transportation to get to your meal, you need to be at you resort's bus stop by 6:30 am at the very latest. Buses are very infrequent that early in the morning, so you may have a bit of a wait. Then you will have to walk over to the monorail ramp and then wait for a monorail. That will take a bit of time. Note that Disney itself suggests you give yourself 90 minutes for travel time, so an hour is the latest you can push it.

If you go by taxi you don't have to leave your resort until 7:00. You will gain at least an extra half our of sleep. Plus no stress about when the bus is going to show up, or if the monorail will be ready to go.

It is much easier and less stressful to use a taxi.

Be out at the MK bus stop area by 6:20. That way you will be on that first bus. As you board the bus, ask the driver whether or not the monorail and/or boat will be running to the Polynesian. Say you have an ADR at 7:30 and want to be a bit early. He/she may just say that the monorail starts at 7am and you'll be fine getting on that, or he/she may say to just stay on the bus and they will drop you at the Polynesian...it's on the way out of MK area.

I have had 50/50 experiences doing this. I never count on the driver dropping me at the particular MK resort, and I'm ready to either walk (to the CR) or monorail over to the Polynesian or GF. But there have been times that I've been dropped at the resort after the bus left MK. I like to allow the driver to bestow some pixiedust which is why I ask the way I do.

I totally agree. We've taken cabs even a couple of times after a park closing back to our resort. When the line is super long for the bus, and you're tired, it saves everyone's sanity.

I agree. That's usually about what it takes for us. Most often it involves dinner or breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. But since we stay at the Pop, and will be staying at AoA this time, it's right at $20 (including tip) to go to or from anything in the MK area.

HAHA Don't worry. Think about it,Disney knows that they have more guest staying without transportation than with. They wouldn't let you book dining that early unless they were getting you there. They want to get you there. I believe I've seen buses, with passengers running at about 6 am my last trip where we stayed at POFQ.

Disney does offer transportation service early on to help guests get to ADRs. However, I will state again that they suggest guests allot 90 minutes to do so. And many people just don't want to budget that much time to get from point A to point B. Using a taxi pretty much ensures you will spend less time getting to your meal.

I know for my family, those extra minutes of sleep in the morning are very precious! I'd much rather get an extra 45 minutes of shut eye, pay the $20, and know I will make my ADR without the hassle of waiting around for a bus or monorail.

Thanks to ALL who have offered their preferred methods, and the reasons behind them, that makes decision time much easier for me, since I already know the pros and cons of the different options.

Being a cheap skate (lol) I will likely get up a bit earlier and simply use the Disney transportation, but it is handy to know that if we should decide to sleep in a bit, Mears is $20 and a phone call away to whisk us there in a fraction of the time should it be necessary.

Agree with previous posters regarding a cab, especially when trying to make it to an ADR. It definitely saves the hassle of waiting for the buses and the anxiety of seeing bus after bus going everywhere except for the one destination you want. From experience, POR to Poly was only $10 plus tip and well worth it!
