considering a stay with family (kids are 8 & 11)...are the royal rooms worth the extra $. it's not a lot extra, but not sure what they offer..

my daughter is 11 and not into "princesses"..son is 8....

thoughts appreciated!

I've got one booked for March. It will be my dh and ds,15 and me. I'm booking it for "me".

I find the RRs a bit overdone. Kind of gimmicky, verging on tacky. If your DD isn't gaga over princesses, you might better spend the money on a preferred room for a better room location instead.

They are worth the extra money TO ME but they may not for you. I love the decor of the royal rooms.. much better than the old plain look of some rooms. We love the headboards too. I just love that whole section of Riverside, even the grounds and fountains. Having stayed at all the values and moderate resorts, the royal rooms are my favorite room type! 29 days until I'm staying in one again!!

My DD(20) and I stayed in a Royal Room last May during Star Wars Weekend and loved this room. My daughter is not big into princesess either but really enjoyed staying in this room. The room was well decorated. The story is that when the different princesses came to visit Tiana they brought her gifts and in the room you can figure who brought what (there is a step stool that was a gift from Belle). The headboards have fireworks that light up which is really neat. Would love to stay stay at this resort and this type of room again. Enjoy your stay. pooh:

The headboard is nice and the deep royal colors are very nice. The princess stuff itself isn't that "big" IMO.

We stayed in one a couple of years ago only because that's all that was left during a free dining offer when we were there over Thanksgiving. Kind of neat but I wouldn't pay extra for it. But to get the free dining I guess it was worth it.

My family refuses to stay anywhere else. We like the mansion area better than the bayou and this is the only way to guarantee a mansion room.

My family has also stayed in the Royal Room, despite none of us being really into princesses. I enjoyed the room and had fun looking at all the little details that went into it. While there is a lot that is "princess" there is also a lot that is "Disney". My favorites included the light up headboard, the Aladdin themed bathroom fixtures, and the details in the wall paper.
