POR room request- likelihood of being honored?

I have a fax template for this, but should I call also? Is there a phone number for room requests and, if so, how many days ahead of time should I do that? I've seen 5 days mentioned for the fax requests before.

We'd prefer to stay somewhere in AB, but a lot of groups of 5 get assigned AB because of the trundle bed, right?

We're booked "Garden View", but I can't remember for the life of me if that's 1 King or 2 Queen Beds as I made our reservations back in August.

Any thoughts? Should I be more specific than just asking for AB?

TIA!

You should be able to look at your reservation because King Beds are a bookable category. It would note that.

If you booked Preferred then it is automatic to AB because there are none in the Mansions.

If you just booked Garden View then you could be placed in either section.

You said King, so if you are saying there are only two of you, then yes, all parties of 5 have priority. Mansions only hold 4. There are only 2 moderates that allow 5 without a suite and since the other, CBR, has major construction going on, POR has now become very popular with that group.

I have never faxed, only called and had it added or done on online check-in where it's available.

Call the general reservation line at 407-W-DISNEY to add requests to your reservation. Requests can be added at the time you make your reservation, or any time thereafter.

There's no way to predict the likelihood of your reservation being granted, as it depends on a great many factors, such as how many arriving guests have made the same request, and how many people are checking out of rooms that meet your criteria on the day you're checking in.

Keeping your requests simple and clear helps. If your only preference is that your room be in AB, then that's all your request needs to say. Generally, the more requests you add, the more difficult it is to meet your criteria. It's a numbers game; if you ask for a room in AB, that's X number of rooms that they have to choose from. If you also ask to be on the second floor, that's a smaller number of rooms that fulfill your request. If you also ask for a room that faces a pool, that shrinks the number of possible rooms even more.

I did online check in the other day and all I saw regarding requests were options to check if I wanted to indicate certain floors. I didn't see a box to write in my own comments, etc.

I did just book Garden View and there are only two of us.

Thank you, I will call and add the AB request to the reservation.

You can never write comments. Some resorts allow you to request a section, so in those cases I will check those boxes. My last few trips to POR were Royal Guest Rooms so I don't know if that shows up for you. Anything other than what shows on online check-in requires a call if you want to know for sure it was received and noted.

Also if I really want something, say like next trip to POP I want a renovated room ......... then I don't request anything else. If you pick two things and one is available but not the other they may go with that. I would call and only ask for AB. Once I tried to box a new room at POP and they told me they couldn't meet those requests at that time so I said the one was more important. Instant room. They said best to give just one if it is important.

If POR is still accepting faxes (I haven't checked the POR thread in a couple years so I don' tknow, but they used to be the only one that did), do it that way. Choose nothing on online checkin that might make it harder for the assignors to do their jobs.

Thanks for the tips, all!

I really just want to request AB, nothing else, so it sounds like it's worth a try. If I do phone AND fax, will that be frowned upon? Is that overkill?

Called today and put in a request to be in AB!

Fingers crossed!

No one can say for sure... Its according to whats available and the assigner that's handling it... We all kow requests are never guaranteed.. Normally I will say 75% of the time mine have been honored but that doesn't mean anything really..

My request was not granted, after faxing and calling.

I requested upper level mansion and was placed first floor AB.

However, I did go to the front desk immediately when I got there and asked to be placed in the mansion section, and my request was granted without problem (they even asked which building I preferred and put me in it).
